Join the Markets Data Lake Product Engineering team as a Technical Product Owner and you will be an integral part of the build out of a high-profile, modern data platform and analytics suite that serves a wide variety of internal users and business use-cases.

The Markets Data Lake is an AWS Data Lake implementation built and owned by CIB Markets Technology that provides ingestion, transformation, cataloging and consumption tooling for other teams across CIB Markets. We are looking for candidates who can become Product owners whilst helping building out Data Products that will help our clients drive insights and understanding of the markets business. Our users will span all areas and seniorities within the firm and you will be responsible for producing curated high quality data products produced from raw data landed by producers. You will be required to understand the business uses cases we are answering and the data, transforms and enrichments that need to happen to answer them - and then implementing them in a cloud environment.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, contribute, and communicate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the data lake application in alignment with business value and objectives.
  • Define clear metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of the data lake application (including adoption and quality), ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives. 
  • Gather, analyze, and prioritize business and technical requirements from stakeholders and translate them into user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Understanding of a variety of AWS technologies, namely: Kinesis, MSK, Glue, Redshift and Lake Formation as well as infrastructure as code tools and in house technology platforms from which data will be produced and consumed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, data scientists, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful delivery of the data lake application.
  • Defines and agrees deliverables with Product Manager, this is not just functional requirements, but also how the product will be tested, measured, monitored, and supported.
  • Works very closely with Product Management understanding vision and strategy for next quarter. 
  • Works closely with Engineering Lead to define the engineering roadmap.
  • Engages with business key partners (QR, Digital Markets, etc) to agree scope and success criteria. 
  • Apply your problem-solving skills in a collaborative, trusting and thought-provoking environment - one that encourages diversity of thought and creative solutions.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring it reflects the highest value features and enhancements based on feedback and market trends.
  • Owns the ‘Definition of Done’ needs to evaluate if we can deliver sufficient additional value, compared to other items on the backlog and ultimately accepts completed user stories. 
  • Work with the wider team to define test strategies, conduct acceptance testing, and ensure the quality of deliverables. Foster software engineering best practices: unit testing, regression testing, code reviews, code reuse, performance optimization.
  • Plan and coordinate releases, including feature prioritization, sprint planning, and sprint review sessions. Set priorities/goals for the iteration and/or sprint.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, dependencies, and impediments that may impact the delivery timeline or product quality.
  • Participate in a rapid-release environment and fast-moving team located across New York, India, Buenos Aires and London.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by conducting retrospectives, gathering feedback, and implementing process enhancements.
  • Ensure that sufficient documentation, training and/or training materials are available for a successful Product launch. Regular Demo’s to users to ensure Product is understood and meets initial/ongoing objectives.

Required Experience and/or Capabilities.

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • Experience working in Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, with a focus on delivering incremental value and adapting to changing requirements.
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role, with a track record of successfully delivering complex software products or applications.
  • Optional but beneficial certifications include Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar Agile certifications, and certifications related to data management or banking technology.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong understanding of data lake architecture, data modeling, ETL processes, data governance, and data analytics in a banking environment.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to drive product strategy and enhancements.
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills to lead cross-functional teams, foster collaboration, and drive results.
  • Knowledge of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines.
  • Knowledge of big data platforms such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Apache Fink or AWS engineering.
  • Knowledge in one or more modern programming languages, including either Python or Java or Scala.
  • Knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices.
  • Overview and understanding of a Markets Trading Environment: solid understanding of different asset classes and main products traded and basic analytics.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn quickly on the job.
