Primary Responsibilities

Our Building Engineering Services Group (BES) focuses on engineering services for complex laboratories, research and development facilities, higher education facilities, healthcare facilities and government installations in the Education, Science and Technology market segment. 

HDR is looking for an Instrumentation and Controls EIT/Designer to join our team which focuses on designing and specifying Building Management Systems for complex laboratories, research and development facilities, higher education facilities, healthcare facilities and government installations in the Education, Science and Technology market segment. We have an industry leading focus on sustainable design and energy conservation. We are also known for designing facilities that are flexible to accommodate changes in research programs, promote knowledge transfer, and serve to attract and retain top-tier talent.

Coordinating with the work of the mechanical design team through the schematic, design development and contract document phase of a project the I&C Engineer (HVAC): Writes/edits instrumentation and controls specifications, selects instrumentation, develops detailed sequence of operations along with functional control diagrams in Revit. Participates in interdisciplinary coordination including power coordination, panel locations, remote equipment monitoring, integration to 3rd party systems, and device locations on floor plans. Coordinates and assists, with affected disciplines, with any addendum, requests for information, change proposal requests and change orders and is responsible to incorporate agreed upon changes into the project documents. Attend client and contractor meetings to coordination design and construction issues. Provides, on an as needed basis, construction contract administration.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering-related field required.(Mechanical , Electrical, Controls) 
  • Microsoft Office proficiency is required.
  • Must possess an understanding of HVAC control applications.
  • May need to travel
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience is preferred.
  • REVIT proficiency is a plus
  • EIT is preferred. Candidates who are hired without state issued EIT will have the initial title of "Controls Designer" and will be expected to achieve certification for career progression.
  • Previous work experience with an A&E/Consulting Engineering firm a plus.
  • Local candidates are preferred.

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) {New York City}: $82,131 - $111,119.
