The Office of Student Life is focused on building a strong foundation to ensure every student's Indiana University experience is positive, safe, healthy, and meaningful. The Office of Student Life staff and multiple departments aim to help students navigate their time at IU, providing the tools they need to be successful in school and after graduation. Students are our priority, and their health, safety, and overall well-being are our core mission.

The Student Involvement and Leadership Center (SILC) is happy to be a part of the Office of Student Life. The Involvement Ambassador position provides vital front desk and administrative support for the SILC team and in our student organization co-working space. They are often the first impression a student, staff, alumnus or community member has of our office.

Job Summary

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Helps other students with registered student organization management which can include how to use beINvolved and how to market their organization's events. 
  • Provides information on the resources and opportunities for students to get involved through the programs and resources of the Student Involvement and Leadership Center. 
  • Helps students navigate involvement opportunities, basic event planning processes and policies, and the resources available for student organizations like training and leadership opportunities. 
  • Serves as the front-line resource for students and student organizations and assists with facilities management and administrative tasks like answering phone calls, overseeing the departmental email account, and coordinating the delivery of mail to the department and student organizations.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 1 year of experience working in a customer service role

Preferred

  • Experience working in an office setting

SKILLS

Required

  • Detail oriented and well organized
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and accurately
  • Outstanding organization skills

Preferred

  • Working knowledge of IU systems and policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills using a variety of mediums
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. 

Work Location

Bloomington, Indiana

This is an in-person position. 

Advertised Salary

$12.00 per hour 

Work Hours

Ability to work a minimum of 8 hours a week.
