As a Quantitative Trader on our Fixed Income desk, you will be responsible for managing the daily operation of our trading platform, while building and maintaining the models that drive our trading. You will help run these models live on our high performance infrastructure, have the opportunity to impact the trading lifecycle and collaborate closely with fellow quantitative traders, infrastructure developers, and operations analysts. Our ideal candidate has a strong background in software engineering with a proven track record of building large scale systems. Quantitative Traders at Virtu are highly analytical problem solvers and thrive in a start-up like environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a fast-growing trading desk at a leading firm.

THE ROLE

  • Build and refine the trading and operational systems that support our Fixed Trading trading platform and its related tasks
  • Manage real-time trading risk, respond to changing market conditions, and react to patterns observed in trading
  • Collaborate closely with quantitative researchers to implement signals and trading ideas in the production system
  • Research and validate new trading ideas
  • Ability to design and improve operational processes
  • Take ownership and solve a range of data, trading, and operational issues

THE CANDIDATE

  • Minimum 5 year’s experience as a software developer
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other STEM major preferred
  • Strong programming skills: fluency in C++ and/or Rust; familiarity with Python and SQL
  • Ability to work creatively and independently on long-term technical problems
  • Team player that thrives in a start-up like environment

DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED

  • Understanding of fixed income products such as corporate credit, ETFs or treasury bonds
  • Prior experience developing algorithmic code within the financial markets, trading, and/or asset management industry

Salary Range: $175,000 - $225,000 (salary range is exclusive of bonuses, benefits or other categories of compensation)
