We are looking for star performers in the growing Silicon Validation Debug and Regressions (SiVal D&R) team. SiVal D&R performs SoC bug triage and debug, silicon characterization, and maintains test racks. As a Silicon Validation Triage Engineer, you will process and triage failed units from factory burn-in and other tests.

Key Qualifications

  • System level understanding of CPU/SoC architecture, DRAMs and printed circuit boards
  • Experience with silicon bringup, validation and debug
  • System software and kernel concepts
  • Moderate UNIX command line and scripting skills

  • Additional Desirable Qualifications
  • • Knowledge of SoC design flow
  • • Knowledge of testing at silicon foundry and at final device assembly
  • • SoC IP block knowledge (Graphics, USB, Video, etc)
  • • UNIX system and network administration skills
  • • Use of lab measurement equipment (oscilloscope, logic analyzer)
  • • QA methodology and testing, bug tracking tools
  • • C, assembly, UNIX/POSIX system programming
  • • UNIX kernel and device driver programming


In your job as triage engineer, your goal is to quickly and effectively process incoming units that failed some software test where the failure is believed to be in hardware. Tests include apps and dedicated unit tests like filesystem, DRAM and graphics tests.  You will use diagnostic software tools from content experts. You will enhance and maintain the triage methodology flowchart and associated automation scripts. You will have opportunities to work with experts from many teams to understand SoC and system behavior: iOS kernel/driver, Silicon Validation IP test SW, Factory diagnostics, SoC architecture, SoC IP design and verification, FPGA Prototyping, Systems Integration, board designers, etc. Your success will be defined by the successful triage of incoming failed units, your triage throughput, the relationships you build, and the improvements you bring to the process.


BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent is required.
