Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze insurance applications and risks for commercial and personal lines of insurance
  • Determine the level of risk assigned to each policy and adjust premiums accordingly
  • Approve or deny coverage based on underwriting guidelines and risk assessments
  • Build relationships with clients and brokers, providing excellent customer service and support
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to identify new business opportunities and potential risks
  • Conduct regular audits of policies to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulations
  • Review claims and recommend solutions to mitigate future risks
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and regulations to maintain knowledge of best practices

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience as a P&C underwriter in a branch setting
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of insurance laws and regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and underwriting software
  • Physical Demands: This job may require occasional lifting, bending, and standing
