About the Role

This is a 20 hour per week project based contractor role that will last through February 2018. 

Stitch Fix is looking for a contract Technical Designer who is excited about sharing their knowledge and skills in the world of garment fit, construction and quality. You will support the Plus Buying team, fitting and commenting on Stitch Fix Exclusive Market samples. Additionally, you will support the Plus Technical Design Manager in all phases of the technical development and production of a garment when needed. 

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Use your expertise to fit and assess Plus Market samples and help the Plus Buying team create clear and actionable fit comments that vendors will use to improve product fit, construction and quality
  • Proactively engage the Plus Technical Design Manager to assist with any relevant technical design responsibilities, up to and including: 
    • Prep, organize and track garment samples before, during and after fittings 
    • Communicate with vendors on fit comments, sample follow-up, updates, rejections and approvals
    • Maintain accurate product specifications across seasons 
    • Provide pattern corrections or correction guidance to vendors as needed 
    • Ensure vendor follow-through on fit corrections by analyzing updates to measurements and construction 

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have a college degree with a major in a relevant field (i.e., Fashion Design, Pattern Making, Textiles, etc), with 5+ years experience in technical design
  • You are fluent in MS Office, with knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • You have an understanding of industry language, spec and pattern terminology 
  • You possess strong verbal and written communication skills
  • You are an excellent multi tasker, extremely detail oriented and possess exceptional organizational skills
  • You love to problem solve and collaborate with cross-functional partners 
  • You possess a strong sense of urgency and thrive in a feedback driven environment 
  • You are independent, able to work with little direction and accountable to all commitment
  • You are stylish, creative and have an interest in building product
