UW Youth & Teen Programs (YTP) is hiring for multiple Group Leader positions.

UW Youth & Teen Programs (YTP) 2024 runs Monday–Friday, July 1–August 23, 2024. Group Leader positions are available to support the elementary and middle school programs. These are seasonal positions during YTP Summer Program. Group Leaders must meet all required training and have current CPR/First Aid certification by June 2024.

These are temporary staff positions with rates starting at $20 an hour.

Work on campus with the UW's summer enrichment program for youth in grades 1-8. Group Leaders are the front line and direct link to students and parents. Group Leaders are responsible for the safety and supervision of youth and participate in daily activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Attend mandatory staff orientation and complete any required training.

Supervise groups of children/teens in different locations on the UW campus.

Assist in taking attendance and checking students in and out each day.

Assist instructors supporting learning activities, use of materials and execution of projects.

Supervise during indoor and outdoor breaks and the lunch period.

Notify YTP Administration of problems and make recommendations to improve the student experience.

Assist in the set up and break down of classes.

Foster a sense of community within the group and seek ways to include all students in activities.

Carry out all duties assigned by YTP Coordinators and Program Director/Administrator.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Experience working with groups of children or teens in formal and informal learning settings.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to be responsible for the safety and well-being of students.

Experience supporting youth of differing abilities, motivational levels and learning styles.

CPR/First Aid certified by June 2024.

Typical work

Lead groups of students to various locations on campus, requiring significant amount of time spent outdoors.

Move materials up to 35 pounds, from classrooms on campus to complete set up and break down.
