This role is responsible for leading data engineering teams to drive execution of data engineering working closely with a Director of Data Engineering, Data Architects, Facilitator and Product Owner or Product Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technology Leadership – ability to define solution architecture that align with business goals and ensures data availability & data accuracy. Work as a technology champion in the team in Data engineering or cloud engineering domain.
  • Technical Project leadership – leading the engineering processes and design for Data Products, Platforms, Accelerators and Frameworks
  • Collaboration & communication – Collaborate and work closely with executives, stakeholder, and business teams to effectively communicate strategy & clearly articulate the business value
  • Team Management – Lead a team of data engineers that design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, data warehouses, and other data infrastructure.

Basic Qualifications

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Experience in building/managing/administrating data processes/pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Cloud to deliver data pipelines (GCP preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with programming in Java and Python
  • 8+ years of experience as a data engineer building ETL/ELT data pipelines
  • Experience with (data) engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management (GIT, continuous integrations, testing, and operations
  • Experience with processing of structured and unstructured data
  • Experience with Agile, DevOps & Automation
  • Understanding of testing strategies & frameworks
  • Experience with data structures, data models or relational database design
  • Understanding of RDBMS databases and SQL language
  • Understanding of data warehousing, data lakes, data mesh concepts
  • Ability to implement automation using DevOps, IaC (ex. Terraform) & automated testing.

Preferred Qualifications

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience working with scientific or pharmaceutical datasets.
  • GCP specific experience delivering data solutions using: BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Composer, Workflows, DataProc, Dataform, GKE
  • Spark / pySpark
