  1. Provides an environment that demonstrates caring, compassion and respect for all patients, families, visitors and staff.
  2. Manages the direct day-to-day patient care operation of the clinical staff and is responsible for the time management, development and evaluation of the clinical staff.
  3. Recognizes the normal signs (growth and development) of the patient population indicated above and understands the requirements of assessment, treatment, and care of the specific age groups.
  4. Completes annual training specific to the age needs of the patient population served and demonstrates area-specific care.
  5. Possesses and demonstrates highly effective communication skills with all customers and is able to adapt communication styles as necessary to different patient populations, care-givers, and other customers.
  6. Demonstrates proficiency of the use and application of the electronic medical record, in addition to other systems that are required to perform clinical nurse responsibilities.
  7. Ensures adherence to policies and standards of care and maintains the privacy of patients and the confidentiality of patient information-HIPPA compliance.
  8. Ensures a team work environment by continually assessing the work environment through patient and staff rounds by supervising the clinic care teams within the guidelines of Office Manager-approved staffing patterns and contributes to Continuous Quality Improvement.
  9. Reports identified opportunities for improvement to the Office Manager that affect patient care and/or clinic staff and together they will coordinate and facilitates problem solving between clinic staff and other departments or among staff. Offers assurance that patient and nursing needs are met in a timely manner and in accordance to McLeod Health standards.
  10. Acts as a liaison to members of the health care teams for concerns related to their department. Advises and informs staff of current revised policies, procedures, in a manner supportive to the organization.
  11. Provides for continued, organized work flow during periods of peak volumes and/or unusual work situations. Assist with patient care during these peak time situations through re-assignment of work, directing the staff or providing direct care-giving for a short period of time.
  12. Participates in the monitoring and control of medical supply inventory to be maintained within office budget yet avoiding unnecessary depletions. Identifies opportunities where supply utilization can be improved and facilitates appropriate adjustments.
  13. Provides clinical experiences as a resource for new and experienced staff in order to facilitate orientation, training and exposure to the variety of practice specific patient types/complaints.
  14. Maintains proficiency of clinical staff and identifies educational and training needs of clinic staff members. Communicates needs to Office Manager if assistance is needed to facilitate additional training.
  15. Promotes a climate conducive to learning through encouragement of co-workers formal and informal continuing education.
  16. Schedules clinical staff, based on experience level and skill, to provide adequate coverage to perform all assigned duties per patient needs, sectional demands and with minimal overtime.
  17. Maintains clinic staff schedules by authorizing paid time off with guarantee of proper clinic coverage and request PRN staff as needed.
  18. Evaluates performance of clinic staff by completion of performance measures through Insight and provides timely feedback to employees regarding their performance.
  19. Addresses variances in employee behavior or work performance graciously and in a timely manner and provides documentation to the employee file-PEP.
  20. Maintains a level of working knowledge of DHEC regulations, OSHA standards, and standard precautionary measures to maintain an environment of safety for staff, patients, and visitors.
  21. Maintains the state Vaccines For Children program within the clinic. This includes weekly inventory uploads to state program, ordering vaccines to maintain adequate stock, and maintaining regulatory compliance with the program.

Job RequirementsQualifications/Training

High school diploma

Supervisory experience preferred

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education

Graduate of an accredited program of Nursing with current licensure by the South Carolina Board of Nursing at the R.N. level
