Position Description:

CGI Federal is seeking a Software Development Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software projects, leading a team of engineers to ensure efficient development and high-quality outcomes. They manage resources, timelines, and project goals while implementing best practices and fostering collaboration within the team.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of senior software engineers under the guidance of the DevOps Manager.
  • Conduct proofs of concept to assess the feasibility of new application features.
  • Create and manage schedules for new feature development and releases.
  • Design training plans to enhance the software engineering skills of your team.
  • Collaborate with an integrated agile team to develop coding solutions (Java, SQL, occasionally C#) aligned with customer needs in a dynamic environment.
  • Conduct code reviews to identify and address functional, performance, and security issues.
  • Guide the team in developing unit tests for regression testing and refactoring.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, especially those related to newly released code.
  • Lead agile sprint efforts by ensuring the relevance and functionality of implementation requirements.
  • Actively contribute to coding tasks and ensure code quality through frequent source control check-ins.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive management experience.
  • At least ten years of hands-on experience in similar roles.
  • Proficiency in Java EE, web applications, web services, and SQL.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
  • Familiarity with source code control and change management processes.
  • Knowledge of cyber and application security principles and best practices.
  • Ability to utilize metrics for monitoring and managing software development processes.
  • Understanding of object-oriented concepts, design patterns, relational database models, unit testing, continuous integration, and single-page architectures.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set level, experience and training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $120,000 - $150,000
