Position Overview: The Instructional Coach, along with Subject Coordinators and/or Assistant Principals will be the primary drivers of an IB professional development model to improve teacher practice and increase student achievement. At its core, this team of IB MYP collaborators is about creating content-specific, school-based learning teams that engage in a weekly cycle of lesson planning, content knowledge development, formative observations, and student work analysis. 

Salary Range: $66,924 - $111,266 (Starting salary is determined by education and years of relevant experience)

Qualifications: Candidates should demonstrate the following professional qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master's Degree in education or similar field preferred.
  • Experience in urban education/diverse environments
  • At least 3 years of teaching experience, preferably at the secondary level
  • Proven track record of student achievement.
  • Strong organizational and strategic planning skills; ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Experience/training in the IB MYP/inquiry-based curriculum framework
  • Expertise in Common Core curriculum framework
  • Experience in language immersion environment: Bilingualism in Spanish, Chinese, or French is preferred
  • Knowledge of best practices for students who receive special education or ESL services
  • Demonstrates knowledge of how to use instruction to reach student achievement goals.
  • Able to identify and describe effective instructional practices and how to provide feedback, coaching, and professional development to teachers to improve the quality of instruction throughout the school.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of educational theory and practices, focusing on standards-based instruction.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, and experience facilitating professional learning communities and professional development sessions.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, both orally and in writing
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Fosters collaboration and teacher leadership.
  • Instructional Coaches will be responsible for serving as an IB MYP Content Leader for IB MYP Individuals & Society (Social Studies), setting a clear vision for the team and leading the charge with new curriculum development 
  • As needed, it supports teachers’ achievement of goals by effectively employing coaching strategies that gradually release responsibility for implementing instructional practices to the teacher (for example, co-planning, modeling, and observing).
  • Analyzes teacher practice through ongoing classroom observations, data analysis, and examination of student work.
  • Provides clear and direct feedback to teachers based on practice analysis and tracks student and teacher progress to assess coaching effectiveness.
  • Develops teachers’ capacity to collect and analyze multiple data sources to improve student learning.
  • Articulates a clear instructional vision alongside the principal, with a school-wide focus on data-driven, standards-aligned teaching and learning rooted in a belief that all students can achieve at high levels.
  • Attends professional development meetings, trainings, and all events on and off campus. 
  • Embrace Chinese, Spanish, and French cultures by leading and participating in cultural activities for faculty and students
  • Other duties as assigned
