At Motorola Solutions, we are solving for safer - building and connecting technologies that improve safety everywhere. We help firefighters navigate through obscured buildings and police officers see around street corners. We are making public safety smarter while envisioning new technology for the future.

Our portfolio contains an ecosystem of applications designed to bring mission-critical intelligence from the command center to in-field operations. This includes a suite of communication, collaboration, and workflow apps. We are building some of the most meaningful software today. Real, professional, tools.

The design team includes Interaction Designers, UI Designers, Industrial Designers and User Experience & Human Factors Researchers. We work closely with our development partners to ensure the best end-to-end solutions.

Job Description

As a UI Designer, you will focus on visual designs in collaboration with UX Designers, and our Design System team. You are an advocate of user-centered-design principles, with a natural curiosity to understand people, and how they interact with products. You understand the need to consider existing design patterns coupled with the need to move visual ideas forward - balancing familiarity with modern visual language. You are a team player who enjoys working and brainstorming with other designers, programmers, and managers. 

In this role, you will work on a variety of projects; designing new features and functionality, refining existing UIs, and helping align products with our unified visual language. As part of a multidisciplinary team, our Designers must be able to multitask, work under pressure, and have a strong focus on even the smallest details. We are diligent, so our customers find the same reliability in our UI that has been the hallmark of our hardware for years.

Basic Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience in UI design, preferably at a company focused on designing and delivering SaaS solutions 
• You have a passion for and deep knowledge of type, color, sizing, and iconography, as well as experience with responsive and adaptive accessible design 
• You know how to work with complex Design Systems; building into, and aligned with, an existing ecosystem
• You want to partner closely with engineering to ensure pixel-perfect implementation of your designs
• You collaborate with UX designers to achieve the highest quality user experience
• You pay almost fanatically close attention to every detail
• You have strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
• You have an exceptional portfolio of work that demonstrates the ability to design and maintain high quality, consistent user interface designs

Additional requirements

• A history of strategic thinking reflected in your ability to speak about your designs with clarity and conviction
• A strong understanding of modern design tools, including our primary tool Figma
• Comfort with Motion Graphics and Prototyping tools
• HTML5, CSS and/or native Android and iOS knowledge is a plus, but not required
