About the role:

The core purpose of the CMB Product Operations Lead is to work with the respective Product Team (incl. the Deal Lead) to create product specific strategic & tactical plans and to provide business and technical leadership for (high-) priority, complex and cross functional product portfolio programs in consideration of the contractual obligations with maily Japan buyers

  • Primary point-of-contact for the assigned product(s)
  • Manage and continuously improve leading indicators of project success. Align, synergizes with the Product Team and other key stakeholders
  • Lead cross-functional CMB Product Team with responsibility for all supply related activities for divested products (e.g. Change Control Management, Launch support for non-Takeda markets, exit activities, etc. )
  • Take accountability for product projects and related project performance including milestone hit rate, risk mitigation and oversee and drive key program processes associated with preparing for new projects to support network & products’ strategy. Lead Program and project processes and meetings.
  • Coordinate tactical information flow and support crisis and issue management accross impacted GMS sites and (multiple) external customers.
  • Overarching coordination for specific projects between the sites, buyers and internal functions.
  • Utilize and serve as resource for project management tools and methodologies and collaborating to identify and apply PM principles to develop resolution plans expeditiously. Drive new processes requiring cross-functional input and development of tools to measure team goals & compliance.
  • Communicate to Senior leadership including risks and mitigation plans and proposals for startegic decisions.

How you will contribute:

  • Organzing, developing agenda, facilitation and documentation for Product Team meetings and tactical/ task force team meetings and follows up on actions for strategic topics, crisis management & cross OpU/Region issue management to ensure quick paced response for critical supply issues.
  • Launches project opportunities (idea generation to project initiation) identified by the team by leading development of proposals, project charters and/or business cases for project approvals & subsequently determines ownership for project execution within the network
  • Set up, scopes, develops high level project plan and monitors execution of strategic and tactical task forces on critical issue resolution and Product Team sub-teams
  • Manages product specific project portfolio ensuring alignment with product strategy and captures product budget needs and alignment with sites and functions
  • Supports strategic planning with respect to projects and growth capacity and coordinates tactical information flow with sites/functions at operational level (“doers”)
  • Facilitates translation of product strategy into clear and measurable team goals & establishes Product Team dashboard to track & measure milestone compliance and ensures alignment and integration of operational plans with product supply tactics.
  • Leads team in risk management approaches and systems and provides complex scenario analysis for issues with significant business impact and proactively measures supply issues/risks, routinely follows up on risk mitigation actions
  • Manage content and maintenance of program information platform (Sharepoint) and generates reporting on regular tactical and ad-hoc updates
  • Maintains the product’s sourcing strategy and monitors execution of PT specific upstream activities (API, DS and DP level) necessary for the GSC Supply & Launch team, if needed

Technical/Functional (Line) Expertise

  • Experience in pharmaceutical life cycle management focussing on post authorisation activities of more than 15 years with Japanese companies located in Japan
  • Extensive knowledge of L-Takeda Products classified of Small Molecules, preferably Product Owner/ Operations Lead within Takeda
  • Experience in risk management
  • Expertise in pharmaceutical/Biotechnical operations, project management and program management
  • Understanding GMS GQ technology and processes
  • Serves as a champion of Takeda’s Project Management Methodology and associated Project Management Office processes, recognizing how project results seriously impact the overall success of the organization

  • Provides clear direction on project requirements to meet expectations of external customers and business stakeholders.
  • Drives implementation of projects by participating to establishing strategy, schedules, budgets, and risk analysis.
  • Drives development of operating mechanisms & stakeholder mapping and ensures implementation of GMSGQ product governance throughout all projects
  • Recommends, implements, and manages the appropriate program or project structure and standard performance metrics
  • Must be capable of reconciling conflicting views into a cohesive path forward. Must be able to plan the critical path and hold team members accountable for their activities.
  • Must be capable of understanding a broad range of projects; distinguish priorities and articulate requirements across all functions of the company. Must be able to align projects against the back drop of long term product and/or Company strategies

  • Responsible for making decisions regarding the appropriate risk when there is substantial project or program impact.
  • Provide advanced analytical, problem solving, and communication capabilities
  • Approves team deliverables for project completion

  • Interfaces with management coordinate project priorities, communications, and issue escalation to all levels of management for the respective Product Team programs
  • Interacts through program and/or project updates and reviews with all levels of management.
  • Uses independent judgment to identify, plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload as required.
  • Closely collaborate with leaders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across organization.

  • Supports establishment of critical business processes to drive excellence in project execution.
  • Drives use of Takeda’s Project Management Methodology throughout projects.
  • Participates in the evaluation and feasibility process for potential projects.
  • Recognizes opportunity for improved department objectives and approaches
  • Manages interdependencies within the respective product project portfolio
  • Maximizes business results through continuous improvement in organization’s ability to execute projects and programs

Complexity

  • Provides program management leadership for different commercial products
  • Provides PM leadership to a diverse, geographically distributed group of functional team members and subject matter experts with different cultural backgrounds.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a life science field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Fluent in Japanese and English, preferably additional language skills such as German, Russian, French, etc.
  • Minimum of 10+ years industry work experience with experience in pharmaceutical development, manufacturing, operations, finance and program management required.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to influence globally & across the organization without direct organization reporting.
  • Effective communication skills including the ability to interact with all levels of management including Leadership Team. Must be able to efficiently communicate complex problems and proposed solutions. 
  • Must be proficient in the application of appropriate program management tools.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly and get up to speed on a variety of complex issues.
  • Must be able to understand how the project fits into the overall GMS and company strategy.
  • Functions well under pressure in a changing environment.
