JOB SUMMARY

  • Conduct investigations into concerns, allegations or risk events involving criminal conduct, dishonesty or deliberate breaches of policies or regulations. Conduct inquiries as part of SIS proactive reviews or other initiatives. 
  • Ensure relevant stakeholders and appropriate senior management are kept informed of relevant investigative developments.
  • Support Significant Regulatory & Government Investigations (SRGI) as required.
  • Support eDDA (eDiscovery and Date Advisory) requests as required.
  • Support data analytics development and dissemination as required.
  • Provide investigation related information to appropriate Country / Regional Committees and attend as required.
  • Manage relationships with local law enforcement agencies. 
  • As required, attend court cases, and coordinate the provision of responses to search warrants, local production orders, court orders, request for information from regulators or law enforcement agencies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

  • Develop and execute investigative strategies in accordance with the Group Investigation Standard, Practice Notes, Group Speaking Up Policy & Standard, Legal requirements, and Regulatory requirements. 

Business

  • Aware and understand LCS (Legal, Corporate Secretariat and Shared Investigative Service) purpose: Bold, Collaborative and Strategic. 

Processes

  • Responsible for the Management of Disclosure and Referrals, Investigations, Mandatory Escalation and Data Management.

People & Talent

  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. 
  • Support the provision of trainings on how to conduct investigations.
  • Conduct lesson learned meetings among team members, hold roundtable talks and collect feedback openly.

Risk Management

  • Conduct risk assessments on concerns and allegations through the lifecycle of an investigation, comply with mandatory escalation requirements and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risk or minimise financial losses. 
  • Conduct thematic reviews to identify common themes or trends, and share observations with relevant risk owners. 

Governance

  • Conduct investigations in accordance with the Group Investigation Standard and Practice Notes.

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 6 years investigative, compliance, intelligence, consulting or audit experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to run end-to-end investigations or relevant reviews.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Relevant degree holder, or comparable experience.
  • Native speaker fluency in Cantonese.
  • Business proficient English language speaking and writing skills.
  • Excellent judgement. Excellent collaborative and team playing skills. Diplomacy, empathy and a ‘can-do attitude’. Politeness, sensitivity and the ability to gently, but professionally stand your ground when needed. 
  • An inquisitive approach to practices, procedures and specific transactions. Personal authority and integrity. Independence, creativity, resourcefulness and resilience.
  • Must possess ability to assess risk, strong leadership qualities, excellent interpersonal skills and multi-cultural awareness and sensitivity.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of banking systems.
  • Knowledge of law enforcement practices.
