The Senior Product Manager – Smart Connected, Products is responsible for supporting all aspects of the product planning process for an assigned product line. Provides senior leadership in the identification of channel (wholesale, retail, utility, etc.) growth opportunities and supports product needs for the U.S. and international markets. Leads the development and management of new programs from business case creation to execution.

This position will serve our Enterprise Division, located in Roswell, GA (Hybrid). 

  • Collaborates closely with cross-functional managers of Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Sales, and any other functional area lending support to the product development process.
  • Supports the update of the product family Product Plans for each Rheem distribution channel, identifying near- and long-term requirements.
  • Leads project-specific business case development process as a means to activate new product development programs.
  • Supports the development and management of new and existing, channel specific, product collateral.
  • Provides leadership and/or support role to cross-departmental product development teams through the product development process.
  • Leads training for Rheem's customers and employees who work with our customers on the company's newly-developed water heating products.
  • Provides direct supervision over assigned staff.
  • Provides performance feedback, coaching and mentoring.
  • Oversee the product life cycle and manage the development, profitability and international market share growth of assigned products categories.
  • Work with cross functional teams to complete project justification analysis via ROI & payback periods and develop project buy-in.
  • Develop and maintain a 5 year multi-generation product road map that positions Rheem to win in the marketplace, drives customer centric innovations, ensures P&L growth, and includes the latest VOC input.
  • Lead cross-functional team on product development projects ensuring project schedules are created, updated, maintained, and followed.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and purchasing to drive cost reduction activities to maintain and grow product portfolio profitability.
  • Work closely with Marketing to provide the sales team with the necessary sales knowledge, training and materials enabling them to sell the product.
  • Prepare product forecasts and monitor inventory levels as serves as liaison with production to ensure supply timelines.
  • Review product data keep sales team up to date on new developments regarding the companies or competitor's products.
  • Lead competitive benchmarking activities to identify and address product gaps such as product teardowns, PEP process, customer interviews, online research and other benchmarking methodologies.
  • Provide direct supervision over assigned staff. Provide performance feedback, coaching and mentoring.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Engineering, Marketing or related field.
  • Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects, and programs within a job area.
  • Usually has advanced knowledge and skills within a specific professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization.
  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10 years of prior experience.
  • Experience developing marketing, product, and sales plans.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work well with others is a matrix team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated the ability to work well with others in a matrix team environment.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering, product engineering.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Experience in the development & management of project schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Experience leading and supporting product development core teams.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and financial reports.
  • Proven ability to work independently and make informed, defendable decisions as they relate to products, project prioritization, and resource allocations.
  • Ability to travel without restrictions.
  • Demonstrated project management and team leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical, organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Highly energetic and a self-starter.
  • Ability to think outside the box to offer new ideas, concepts, solutions, etc.
  • Capable of maintaining sensitive or confidential information.
  • Engineering or marketing background with industry experience is preferred.
  • Ability to extensively travel internationally without restrictions.
