Are you an experienced HR professional looking for a new opportunity to use your expertise to deliver change and drive excellence in a business? At Leonardo UK, we are looking for a HR Business Partner to join the team within the Helicopters Division in Yeovil.

As a HR Business Partner, you will collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to support a nominated functional area and to deliver organisational goals.

Working alongside the nominated SLT member, you will require close alignment to support the business through a strategic HR lens. You will focus on strategic projects and become the focal point for the nominated function supporting across a broad range of areas including organisational development, compensation, workforce planning, talent management, employee engagement, performance management and employee relations.

This role will report into the HR Business Partner UK Coordination with matrix organisation to the Senior HR Business Partner within the Division.

This position is a level 7 position on our internal Salary and Career Progression Framework (S&CPF).

What you’ll do as a HR Business Partner:

  • Act as the primary HR interface for a nominated functional area within Leonardo Helicopters Division, working closely with the wider HR team to provide a high standard of day to day support
  • Collaborate closely with the SLT member of the nominated functional area to support strategic goals and ensure they are met as part of the wider People Plan/HR KPIs
  • Monitor and measure HR Metrics/KPI dashboards to drive key insights and decisions that support growth and retention which you will be required to present at the business control/line of business/IPT meetings
  • Provide the organisation with a professional level of knowledge, skill and expertise embracing all aspects of the products and services provided by HR
  • Drive change, improve the culture and build robust stakeholder relationships, acting as a coach and trusted advisor to managers and leaders
  • Work closely with the management team to identify and manage talent, support career progression moves and drive high organisational performance
  • Use workforce data and apply analytical skills to formulate people insights and recommendations
  • Provide appropriate functional advice and support for activities such as salary/promotion reviews, succession planning, appraisals and performance management
  • Advise and guide on all Employee and Industrial relations matters, including capability, disciplinary and grievances, Trade Union consultations
  • Collaborate with the wider HR People Team to ensure that a fully integrated service is provided to the business.
  • Ensure functional workforce plans are maintained and forecasts/projections are as accurate as possible in support of capacity planning management
  • In conjunction with the functional lead, continuously review the strategic workforce plans with specific focus on ensuring that the correct skill mix is available now and in anticipation of future need to support the business objectives
  • Support any recruitment decisions to ensure the satisfaction of requirements as well as deliver business targets against budget, supported by the Talent Attraction team.
  • In conjunction with the relevant business lead and Senior HR Business Partner, submit headcount budget requirements as part of the annual budget setting rounds
  • Responsible for managing the allocated headcount budget and cost of employment budget for the business area

What we need from you:

  • Previous experience as a HR Business Partner (or equivalent HR generalist background) in a fast paced environment is essential
  • CIPD qualified with in-depth knowledge of employment law and previous experience of working with Trade Unions
  • Ability (and willingness) to switch between value-add HR and more transactional/operational HR
  • Able to challenge and support in equal measures – offering a strong voice at the table on behalf of the HR team.
  • Strong interpersonal, diplomacy and coaching skills
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise.
  • Commercial acumen as a basis to build credibility
