As a Capital Markets Analyst you will play a pivotal role in best execution strategies at various points in the mortgage life cycle, spanning across origination, core servicing, and default servicing. Home Lending (HL) Risk team is responsible for developing and executing a risk management discipline where risk and return considerations are appropriately factored into decision making. Key risk management decisions that are supported by Capital Markets include: Held for Investment (HFI) Portfolio origination credit box, HFI Bulk Whole Loan Purchases, Jumbo Private Label Securitization (PLS) initiatives, and ongoing risk oversight and performance monitoring of key credit and portfolio risk management strategies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain periodic analytics to provide management with full insight into emerging trends and the quality of the originated accounts
  • Attain a detailed understanding of key performance metrics and profitability drivers, enabling the delivery of insights encompassing the full account lifecycle
  • Acquire an understanding of the operational processes (e.g. manual underwriting, portfolio management, collections) which will aid in understanding acquisition performance drivers
  • Conduct ad hoc analytics and contribute to various projects representing Risk Management
  • Risk review, waterfall and stratification for various Bulk and Securitization deals 
  • Provide Risk POV on Bulk acquired loan performance to business partners through deep dives & executive reports 
  • Build and maintain core data infrastructure – Counterparty Tableau Dashboard and DataMart
  • Collaborate with business partners to address emerging risks and support with ad-hoc analysis
  • Correspondent loans performance surveillance with deep dives
  • Continuous enhancement and automation of reports and repetitive processes
  • Adherence to risk and controls framework and build resiliency

Required qualification, capabilities and skills:

  • Good understanding of Credit Risk and providing risk point of view
  • An understanding of various Capital Market structures 
  • Experience in data analytics with ability to carry our segmentation, data mining and evaluate time-series data
  • Sound understanding of a data querying language or manipulation tool such as SAS, SQL, or Python
  • Experience with guiding members and recommending solutions to business problems
  • Exposure to lending products with ability to identify and analyze segments of risk
  • An undergraduate and/or graduate degree in a field such as (but not limited to) Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, MIS, IT, Economics, Risk Management, Analytics, Finance, or Accounting 
  • Exposure/awareness of Alteryx and Tableau or similar tools 
  • General knowledge on various transaction such as originations, bulk msr purchase and sales, whole loan sales and purchases, securitizations and other related functions within the capital markets space
  • BS degree and minimum 5 years Risk Management or other quantitative experience required
  • Background in statistics, econometric, or other quantitative field required

Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:

  • Experience working with stakeholders – building trust through hard work and honest assessments of projects, strong communication, high emotional intelligence
  • Working as part of a highly productive team, where culture and cooperation are critical for success.
  • Any prior experience synthesizing large quantities of data using tools such as Teradata, ORACLE or Snowflake is a plus
  • Any prior experience working with large relational databases is a plus
  • Any prior experience working within a consumer bank, particularly within a risk or compliance function, or within the home lending line of business is a plus
  • Any prior experience building and operating within a well-controlled data environment (following established procedures, recommending enhancements to controls) is a plus
  • MS degree and 3 years Risk Management or other quantitative experience preferred
  • Advanced understanding of SAS, SAS Enterprise Miner, or other decision tree software is preferred
