JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Market Analysis, the Senior Assistant Director, Market Analysis supports Northeastern University’s market research function in the Enrollment Management unit. The primary focus of the Senior Assistant Director, Market Analysis is to lead market intelligence for new programs and initiatives and evaluate existing programs and initiatives across the University’s global campus network, in collaboration with the Senior Director, Market Analysis. The Senior Assistant Director will lead both ad-hoc and standardized market research projects within the Market Analysis team and manage the projects of two employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Conducting research to assess the market viability of both proposed and existing degree programs and other portfolio initiatives offered by the University, including competitive scanning, profiling existing programs, gathering labor and industry data through publicly available and proprietary sources, and gathering existing degree conferral trends.

Compiling data into formats appropriate for internal reporting purposes and will analyze key trends from the data in order to foster recommendations to relevant senior leaders and internal clients. 

Leading the data environment for the Market Analysis team by managing, organizing, and analyzing external data sources using Alteryx, Snowflake, Slate, and Microsoft Excel, collaborating with internal clients for on-demand data needs, and leading the design and build out of dashboards on the Tableau server site. 

Conducting market assessments annually for all existing academic programs offered through the University, an annual competitive scan of peer and aspirational peer institutions, and an annual scan of competitive pricing.

Conducting market assessments for new programs and initiatives, assessment of potential university partners, market analyses for potential university geographic expansion, and focus groups and surveys of prospective students ad hoc.

Working on special projects as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related (e.g. business analytics, applied social sciences) field; Master’s preferred.
  • Five-Seven years’ experience in analysis, consulting, market research, product development, marketing, and/or strategy roles;
  • Ability to work independently/autonomously and as a part of a team;
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to strategically interpret findings and focus analysis and recommendations on implications and actions;
  • Solid written and oral communication skills;
  • Familiarity with market research and analysis methodologies, tools, and techniques – e.g., competitive scanning, interviewing, surveying, data visualization, Google Trends, Alteryx, Tableau, etc.;
  • Adept with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Strong data analysis skills;
  • Interest in the higher education market.
