The Office of Academic Affairs (OAA) works to expand access, improve teaching and learning, increase graduation rates, reduce time to degree, push the frontiers of knowledge, better serve our communities and produce more civic-minded, workforce-ready lifelong learners in the areas that our region, state and nation need most. The Office of Enrollment Management (EM) is an integral part of the Office of Academic Affairs (OAA). 

The Office of Enrollment Management (EM) at the Central Office invites applications for the position of University Dean of Admissions and Recruitment (UD-AR) to oversee the University Office of Admissions and Recruitment. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, the UD-AR is responsible for leading the University’s central admissions strategy and operations for the enrollment of new undergraduate and graduate students. The Office of University Admissions fosters an environment that promotes the University's mission statement and strategic roadmap. 

The UD-AR is a complex, data-centric position that links the campuses and numerous external entities. This involves building and maintaining positive relationships throughout the university system and with external stakeholders. 

Key duties include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Oversees all administrative and operational functions of the Office of Admissions and Recruitment; serves on the Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost’s Academic Affairs Cabinet, while working closely with various academic and administrative departments at the CUNY Central Office, the 25 CUNY campuses, and external entities comprised of government and state agencies, commercial and technological enterprises, educational institutions, and professional organizations with competing priorities and agendas.
  • Develops and adapts policies and procedures related to undergraduate and graduate recruitment, admissions, and enrollment in areas including, but not limited to, evaluating test-optional admissions, international credentials evaluation service providers, and business processes for streamlining and advancing technology to support application processing. 
  • Implements systems including, but not limited to, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Systems, Communication Tools such as Chatbots, and AI powered Systems and Tools; works closely with technical experts to troubleshoot and optimize platforms to ensure a seamless end-user experience. 
  • Progresses and executes complex multi-phase marketing communication campaigns, recruitment materials, and specialized outreach activities in collaboration with university marketing and communications to support the recruitment of a robust and diverse applicant pool. 
  • Fosters and maintains strong relationships with University Advancement/Relations will be essential as well as relationships with elected officials, external organizations and associations including, but not limited to, the College Board, NACAC, NYSACAC, and NYC Public Schools.

NOTE:

Until further notice, this position is eligible to work remotely and work on-site in the office.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum:

This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. 

Preferred:

  • Current working knowledge of applicable laws pertaining to college admission and enrollment is strongly desired
  • An advanced degree in higher education administration or a directly related discipline, and at least eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in related student enrollment functional areas, programs, and services.
  • Detail-oriented big-picture thinker with a passion for new student experience and success, and proven effectiveness working with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds in a higher education institution.
  • A champion of change with a proven track record of exemplary leadership, nurturing interdivisional collaboration, high emotional intelligence, and a commitment to CUNY’s mission. 
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting to support institutional decision-making and being proactive in identifying potential issues. 
  • High ethical standards, commitment to staying up to date with changes in regulations and policies in the evolving field of technology and higher education; adaptability and openness to learning as technology in higher education evolves. 
  • Active professional memberships and participation in correlated professional organizations and associations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The salary range is $165,000 to $183,363; commensurate with qualifications, experience, and education.
