Occupational Therapist, Wilkes-Barre Transitional Rehab Unit (Call-In)

Under the supervision the Team Supervisor, the Occupational Therapist is responsible for direct and indirect patient care, staff/family education, and various departmental procedures as listed below.

The Occupational Therapist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served by his/her department – adult through geriatric. The Occupational Therapist must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span; possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status; interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs; and to provide the care needed as described in Occupational Therapy Department's policies and procedures.

Type of supervision exercised: limited Jobs reporting to this position: COTAs, aides, students, volunteers.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited college required.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

New graduates acceptable.

Minimum of one (1) year of gerontology experience preferred.

SPECIAL EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check.

Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist by PA State Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs.

CPR certification must be obtained and maintained.

Valid PA driver’s license required.

Good written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills required for effective interaction with management, staff, patients and visitors.

Proficiency in documentation of patient care required.

NBCOT certification preferred.
