The Senior Specialist – Analytics and Insights is responsible for providing expert-level support in the development and management of reporting, analytics, and insights for an organization. This role involves analyzing data to identify trends, opportunities, and issues that can inform business decisions and drive growth. The Senior Specialist will also be responsible for the creation of dashboards and reports that provide a clear understanding of business performance and enable effective decision-making. In addition, data modelling and mapping is a vital part of the role to enable reporting.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to departmental and company policies and rules
  • Ensure compliance to all South African IT legislation and governance
  • Ensure continuous improvement of standard operating procedures
  • Contribute to the development and management of Service Level Agreements
  • Ensure adherence to MultiChoice Data Governance policies and procedures as well as POPIA and GDPR principals
  • Gather and analyse data from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions
  • Develop and deliver reports that provide stakeholders with actionable insights and recommendations
  • Create and maintain dashboards that visualize key performance indicators (KPIs) and other relevant metrics
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify data requirements and ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Collaborate with other teams to integrate data from various sources and systems
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of reporting and analytics
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in reporting, analytics, and insights
  • Lead analytical and reporting delivery within teams
  • Share knowledge and practical experience with the analytics and insights community
  • Challenge and contribute to the development of architectural principles and patterns
  • Mentor and coach junior analysts to develop their skills and expertise

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or Equivalent Qualification
  • Competency Certifications in Databricks, Azure, Data Analysis, and other technologies highly advantageous
  • 8-10 years of experience gathering requirements and analyzing data
  • Experience working with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or QlikView
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python and other programming languages commonly used in data analysis
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
