About the Role

In order to achieve its ambition of serving 80,000-100,000 Fellows over the next decade, Braven is hiring a temporary part-time Volunteer Recruitment Specialist who will spearhead the recruitment of 25 long-term volunteers, called Leadership Coaches (LCs), pivotal to the success and impact of our program.

As a vital member of the Volunteer Recruitment team, you will lead the charge in building a robust and diverse pipeline of prospective candidates with a specific focus on finding volunteers who represent the backgrounds of our Fellows and volunteers from diverse industries.

This is a new role, which means it will require a proactive approach, strategic thinking, and a passion for community engagement and partnership building.

This is a part-time, temporary position on the External Affairs team and will report to the Director, Volunteer Recruitment and Stewardship.

What You’ll Do

  • Recruit 25 volunteer Leadership Coaches by building a pipeline of diverse prospective candidates by becoming fully knowledgeable, overall, with Braven’s LC volunteer program, requirements and ideal volunteer profile
  • Create a strategy to achieve campaign goals by forging partnerships (e.g. with faith groups, professional groups, neighborhood groups, and affinity groups), holding info sessions, canvassing, postering, tabling, and advertising on listservs
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for Braven, influencing prospective volunteers and explaining details of the program
  • Track, interpret, and evaluate data to measure progress to goals and inform changes to strategy and process
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in recruitment, canvassing, community organizing, and/or partnership development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team
  • Strong track record of setting and achieving ambitious goals
  • Knowledge of and commitment to applying diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices in all aspects of work
  • Experience with data tracking and analysis to inform strategic decision-making
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Familiarity of and comfort with Salesforce
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Exemplification of Braven’s core values
  • Experience that has informed your belief in Braven’s mission and have prepared you to work with, or for, Braven’s student Fellow population
  • Alumni of Braven and/or City College of New York

Work Demands

  • Ability to travel across the five boroughs and the Newark area as 75% of the role
  • Some evening and weekend work as 25% of the role

Additional Requirements

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide proof of such by the date of hire. Individuals may claim exemption from the vaccine requirement for medical or religious reasons.

Compensation

This is a part-time temporary, non-exempt, position paid at an hourly rate of $25 per hour. The anticipated hours per week for this role are 15 to 20 hours per week. 

Location

This is a remote position and the person must live in a commutable distance from New York City and be able to travel across the five boroughs and New Jersey.
