Head of Prime Services Trading – North America, Managing Director, Onsite

State Street Prime Services is an alternative to prime brokerage and is a platform that allows clients to borrow securities and finance from a segregated custody account. This structure can reduce counterparty risk, offers additional transparency, and provides greater control over assets. The result is a more efficient and cost-effective way to manage alternative investment strategies. Prime Services has been in business for over fifteen years, has a global client base, continues to experience exponential growth, and is currently one of the fastest growing products within State Street. We are looking for a Head of Trading in North America to help us manage the existing book of business and grow our share in a competitive market landscape.

Due to the role requirements this job needs to be performed primarily in the office with some flex work opportunities available.

What you will be responsible for

As Head of Prime Services Trading – North America, you will

• Manage and mentor a team of five traders in Boston and Jersey City
• Serve as the lead trading representative as we build out our Delta One trading capabilities
• Manage relationships with supply-side agent lenders and broker dealers
• Serve as the direct point of contact for top-tier global funds covering various strategies
• Borrow and lend securities to cover and manage clients’ short positions
• Provide daily color on hard to borrow securities and special situations to portfolio managers, analysts, execution traders, and treasury personnel
• Optimize the borrow book to drive returns
• Partner with the State Street’s Research department to generate content for client distribution
• Work closely with partner teams in Sales, Client Management, and Product Development to deliver an exceptional product experience for our clients

Education & Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience in Securities Finance trading
• Previous Delta One trading experience is required
• Experience and demonstrated results managing a team 
• Self-starter, motivated by making the entire team successful
• Proficiency in Bloomberg and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel

Additional requirements

• Travel up to 10% may be required

Salary Range:

$235,000 - $246,250 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
