Overview:

We are looking for an innovative technology and client facing leader to run Studio Operations for one of the largest global FinTech firms. Aladdin Studio is a data and developer platform delivered as part of BlackRock's end-to-end Aladdin® investment platform. Aladdin Studio enables investment professionals to build on top of core data and workflows in Aladdin® to create innovative solutions to meet bespoke needs across the investment process.

This is a new role that will transform how we manage and process high quality data at scale and reflects our commitment to invest in our Enterprise Data Platform to unlock our data strategy for BlackRock and our Aladdin Client Community. A technology first mindset, to drive and run the new Global Studio Data Operations and Developer Operations function with high levels of automation and engineering, is essential along with strong client engagement skills. This role requires a deep understanding of data, domains, and the associated controls.

This role will require extensive direct pre and post sales client engagement and relationship management for our existing 20+ live clients and prospects and our BlackRock Community of citizen developers. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, technology and data driven individual who has a track record in running and leading a large Global Data Operations function.

Key responsibilities:

  • Define the strategic vision for Global Data Operations and Developer Operations and execute the plan to realize this vision
  • Hire, manage, motivate, and develop a highly efficient and diverse global team of data ops, developer ops and data engineers
  • Ensure on time high quality data delivery with a single pane of glass for data pipeline observability and support
  • Directly manage the technical relationship with clients as a Studio platform and data specialists, understanding how each client engages with the platform and their future state strategic direction
  • Partner cross-functionally to enhance existing data sets, eliminating manual inputs and ensuring high quality, and onboarding new data sets
  • Lead change while maintaining operational excellence, quality, and control
  • Foster an agile collaborative culture which is creative open, supportive, and dynamic
  • Provide visionary leadership in modern data operations and developer operations practices
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the firm and external clients to understand evolving data needs
  • Ensure robust governance, compliance, and risk management practices are embedded within all operational practices

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 15+ years’ experience in data ops and developer ops including monitoring and engineering
  • Understanding of modern-day data highways, the associated challenges, and effective controls
  • Passionate about data platforms, data quality and everything data
  • Technical expert including experience with data processing, orchestration (Airflow) data ingestion, cloud-based databases/warehousing (Snowflake) and business intelligence tools
  • The ability to manage and monitor large data sets through the data lifecycle, including the tooling and observability required to be ensure data quality and control at scale
  • Experience implementing, monitoring, and operating data pipelines that are fast, scalable, reliable, and accurate
  • Strong presence with clients
  • Inquisitive leader who will bring new ideas that challenge the status quo
  • Ability to navigate a large, highly matrixed organization
  • Financial services experience desired but not essential
