Associate Director, Commercial Engines Business Communications (Hybrid)

Commercial Engines (CE) is Pratt & Whitney’s largest business making up more than 50 percent of the business unit’s annual revenue. RTX Communications is seeking an outstanding candidate to develop and deliver communications strategies and content across the P&W CE portfolio. As a member of the Communications team, you will work with company leaders to help drive business results by providing world-class communications in support of company priorities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Communications point of contact and a key member of the leadership team supporting the Commercial Engines VP, Operations.
  • Develop and lead an integrated communications campaign and cross-functional team to support the organization’s business objectives and employee engagement goals.
  • Track campaign progress and partner with cross-functional colleagues on metrics. Conduct regular business reviews with CE leadership to assess progress and course correct as necessary.
  • Manage crisis communications for the in-service fleet of commercial engines.
  • Prepare communications deliverables including talking points, key messages, prep packages, posts, featured content, speeches, news releases, holding statements, and presentations.
  • Identify and prepare CE business leaders for external speaking opportunities.
  • Partner with Media Relations to achieve a positive narrative in the media and leverage program news and milestones.
  • Facilitate media interviews and ensure participants are prepared.
  • Prepare and secure approvals for media statements/Q&As and talking points in partnership with the business leaders and Media Relations team.
  • Partner with the Brand, Advertising and Events team to develop and deliver effective assets and experiences as part of our communications campaigns.
  • Plan, attend and leverage industry trade shows and events to deliver results in support of business objectives and as part of campaigns – including media, social media, customer testimonials and meetings with communications counterparts to build and advance relationships.
  • Partner with the Digital Communications team to design and deploy content which generates strong engagement, externally and internally.
  • Develop relationships with Communications counterparts at airframers, partners and airlines/lessors, as well as members of the media and third-party influencers to raise awareness of and advocacy for the advantages of Pratt & Whitney commercial engines.
  • Partner with Employee Communications to build employee engagement in support of business goals and wider internal communications objectives. 
  • Coordinate closely with international Communications to support the reputation of the commercial engines fleet, globally, and the success of key aftermarket and redeployment campaigns.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Public Relations or related field and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience OR in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience
  • Strategic thinker and self-starter
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Proven leader with strong interpersonal, influencing and collaborating skills
  • Excellent written, oral and e-communications skills, especially in a virtual environment 
  • Proven track record of delivering successful communications campaigns for global engineering /manufacturing organizations, preferably in the aerospace or a related industry
  • Ability to excel in fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience with traditional and non-traditional communication platforms, including print, electronic, social media, video and industry events
  • Willing to travel up to 10%, both domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or MS in Business Management or Communications

The salary range for this role is 143,000 USD - 287,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
