Job Summary:

In collaboration with the Director/Head of Corporate Communications, the Communications Manager will play a hands-on role in both the design and execution of strategic communications programs designed to create and maintain a favorable image of the firm. The Communications Manager will forge strong relationships with key stakeholders including media, company executives, clients, industry influencers and fellow employees and work to identify new and emerging opportunities to enhance the firm's visibility and reputation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Draft and/or edit communications material for both internal and external use. This includes: press releases, bylines, white papers, website copy, executive biographies, etc.
  2. Identify issues and opportunities, serve as trusted advisor to leadership on all aspects of communication and engage other parts of the firm to ensure alignment, clarity, and accuracy of message.
  3. Drive robust thought leadership platform, positioning Stifel authorities as subject matter experts across a wide range of economic and market-related topics.
  4. Serve as a primary point-of-contact for top tier media, proactively sharing expert commentary, handling incoming press requests in a timely and professional matter, and building relationships with key journalists.
  5. Lead digital marketing initiatives and social media management with particular emphasis on LinkedIn campaigns.
  6. Manage website content across Stifel companies, keeping sites robust, factual, and updated.
  7. Supervise all aspects of in-house studio production, including facilitation of all recordings and TV live shots with company spokespeople/executives.
  8. Support crisis/reactive communications as needed, driving client, media and other stakeholder communications as required.
  9. Partner with marketing, investor relations, legal, and compliance to effectively manage daily workflow and material events.
  10. Direct junior level employees and manage agency relationships.

$115,000 - $150,000 base salary

Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated expertise in the development of communications strategies in support of reputation, media relations, and thought leadership.
  2. Outstanding written and verbal skills; a strong story-teller with interest in capital markets.
  3. Experience with digital content creation and the strategic use of social media.
  4. Strong collaboration skills with ability to work across a large, complex organization to advance business goals.
  5. Curious, entrepreneurial spirit with exceptional work ethic and motivated to succeed in fast-pace environment.
  6. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality results.
  7. Comfort with and ability to build trust, rapport and advisory relationships with senior management and firm leadership.
  8. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and planning skills.
  9. Takes initiative and can work well independently or as part of a team.

Education & Experience:

  1. Minimum Required: B.S. or B.A. in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related field.
  2. Minimum Required: 7 years of relevant financial services industry experience and familiarity with investment banking.
  3. Prior work in journalism or PR/marketing agency a plus.

Systems & Technology:

  1. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
