Wahed has also curated an equity crowdfunding platform (ECF) called Wahed Ventures which helps investors get access to curated investments in ethical, early-stage startups. It also helps startups to raise money at the pre-seed and seed stage. ECF business is currently live in the UK and proposed to be launched in Malaysia & USA.

Group Risk & Compliance Function at Wahed:

The Group Risk & Compliance function at Wahed is responsible for overseeing the compliance & risk management practices and implementing the Risk Management Framework across the group. It is also responsible for conducting periodic risk assessments, control testing and devising mitigating plans to combat risks.

Job Description:

  • Accountable to the Group Risk Senior Manager and the Wahed Ventures Business Associate. 
  • Develop a strong understanding of business and processes. 
  • Assist the UK, MYS & US compliance in framing policies related to ECF business 
  • Support the achievement of the compliance monitoring plan within the Ventures team in UK, USA & Malaysia.
  • Encourage development of the Compliance culture within the Ventures team.
  • Ensure complete due diligence checks are performed on all deal documents.
  • Review marketing & promotional materials Assess potential risk areas for ECF in each country as well as from a Group perspective.
  • Assisting Function owners in implementation of proposed controls.
  • Keep abreast of the latest security, privacy, and regulatory concerns and best practices impacting third party risk management across countries.
  • To provide periodic risk and compliance update to the risk committees. 

Job Specification:

  • Graduate with around 4-6 years of experience in risk & compliance. 
  • Knowledge of risk & compliance management principles and the interrelationships of 3 LoDs.
  • Prior experience on ECF will be added advantage.
  • Understanding of compliance & business risks with special focus on financial risks and internal controls.
