Reports to: SVP & General Manager International

Location: Madrid, Spain

Position Summary:

This is an outstanding position and opportunity for a General Manager to make significant impact on the Iberia presence of Apellis while serving as a member of Apellis International extended leadership team. The General Manager Iberia will lead the build out of Apellis Iberian affiliate, growing the local medical, commercial, Value and Access and support functions, setting up the business structure across the major markets, fine tuning the commercial strategy and building local country launch plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage in country organizations, including cluster functional leads and sales field forces
  • Develop strategy for market access, pricing, and reimbursement for Iberian markets in preparation for product launches.
  • Lead and build strong relationships with customers across the region.
  • Drive and oversee the affiliate build-out
  • Define long-term cross functional tactical plans as well as annual operating plans for the Iberian business in alignment with global organizational and regional strategies and vision.
  • Ensure Apellis is operating in strict compliance with all local legislations
  • Delivery results against agreed targets
  • Ownership of P & L

Knowledge:

  • A strong understanding of how the biopharma industry operates across the Iberian region:
  • Knowledge of and expertise with European and Iberian regulatory frameworks and processes (regional and local).
  • Knowledge of Iberian market access environment
  • Knowledge of pharma-specific regional and local compliance codes.
  • A strong background in General Management responsibility within pharma and/or biotechnology
  • A scientific orientation from experience across multiple therapeutic areas within industry
  • A proven track record of successful product launch(es) in Spain and willing to put in effort that is beyond normal expectations.
  • Providing a sense of direction and purpose. Having clear alignment connection to achieving the organization's strategic goals.
  • Setting a strong performance orientation; has high expectations for performance and accountability for actions and results and is a self-starter.

Requirements:

  • Pharma/biotech experience
  • Launch experience in Spain and Portugal
  • Knowledge of the local market
