Position Summary:

Apellis is preparing to launch pegcetacoplan, a targeted C3 inhibitor designed to regulate excessive complement activation, which can lead to the onset and progression of many serious diseases. Pegcetacoplan’s intended launch indication is in Geographic Athrophy (GA).

In this role, you will lead development of the Pricing and Market Access strategy for pegcetacoplan in Iberia. Specifically, the Head of Value Access and Policy, will lead efforts in assessing and communicating the market access requirements of Iberia for pegcetacoplan, to both internal and external stakeholders and will contribute to and shape the overall value strategy for pegcetacoplan throughout its lifecycle. The position will drive development of local market access and payer evidence generation strategy, delivery of reimbursement submissions, and lead P&R negotiations. The position will report into the GM, Iberia, and collaborate closely with the VP of EU VA&P– a dotted line manager for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive key strategic decisions as part of the Iberian Leadership Team;
  • Identify, analyze, develop, and implement recommendations and strategies regarding P&R policy, evidence generation and address important challenges to be overcome in support of a future launch of pegcetacoplan;
  • Champion the P&R requirements and ensure cross-functional alignment, both at a national, regional and global level throughout commercialization and amongst internal stakeholders;
  • Collaborate closely with relevant internal stakeholders, including Marketing, Medical Affairs and Regulatory;
  • Analyze and synthesize technical P&R information, including coverage and reimbursement policies, and translate into meaningful recommendations and strategic tactics at appropriate decision time points;
  • Develop payer engagement plans and seek early scientific advice from agencies and other external experts;
  • Partner in development of EU Value Access & Policy deliverables, working in close collaboration with European colleagues and external vendors; 
  • Drive strategy discussions and communication efforts with relevant external stakeholders including National and regional payer, key hospital accounts as well as key government agencies and organizations;
  • Drive development of market access deliverables including national submissions for the Iberian region, negotiation strategies, and country-level regional and local market access tactics to secure optimal pricing and reimbursement outcomes
  • Establish Iberia´s pricing operations including pricing governance
  • Work closely with KAM team to support regional and local access to pegcetacoplan

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Health Economics, Health Research, Pharmacy or a relevant related discipline
  • 8+ years of experience within the field of Pricing & Market Access, Health Economics, Outcomes Research
  • Strong network of relevant stakeholders in Iberia; Market Access experience in Iberia and knowledge of the local pricing and reimbursement system is mandatory
  • Ophtalmology experience from a health economic, commercial and clinical studies perspective preferred
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Business fluency in English
  • Fluency in local language is a must
  • Ability to travel
