Summary:

Ares Management is looking to hire a Vice President for the Global Client Solutions (“GCS”) team in London. Investor Services is expanding its team to support the firm’s strategic objectives related to fundraising and client service. Investor Services acts as a centralized point of contact for external clients, internal teams and service providers on investor data, onboarding, inquiry management and data rooms across all business lines at Ares (credit, private equity, real assets, infrastructure, secondaries and strategic initiatives). This is a unique opportunity to join a growing team that is defining new processes, building technologies and launching enterprise-wide functions.

The individual will serve as the Europe, Middle East and Africa (“EMEA”) lead for the team, overseeing all day-to-day processes around data room contact and document maintenance, investor data, investor onboarding and projects by EMEA team members and coordinating with regional Investor Services team leads in North America and Asia. The individual must have a deep knowledge of the investor lifecycle and onboarding processes at an alternative asset manager. As this is a new team, the role will require a dynamic, adaptive, and proactive leader who can provide insights on best practices on investor services processes and technologies.

Primary Functions and Essential Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Relationship Management and Product Management teams, globally, to streamline and centralize processes across different groups including Finance, Accounting, Legal, Tax, Compliance and Technology
  • Contribute to developing, implementing, documenting and training on new workflows and procedures utilizing technology to create and improve processes to drive change
  • Mentor team members, create and provide training on industry and functional expertise
  • Lead and serve as escalation point for investor onboarding process, which includes review of onboarding documents such as fund related documents, subscription agreement, AML/KYC, regulatory related and tax documents
  • Oversee end-to-end processes and controls around capture of investor data during the onboarding process and investor lifecycle maintenance
  • Serve as key relationship contact and oversight of third-party Fund Administrators’ Investor Services / Transfer Agent teams
  • Governance and review of investor data rooms – including set up, document and contact maintenance
  • Review, resolve and/or escalate complex issues or queries
  • Act as the expert on regional specifications for EMEA based investors’ inquiries, onboarding, data rooms, etc.
  • Coordinate with EMEA based business operations teams and fund admins as a leader on the Investor Services team, with particular focus on partnership with compliance on region specific requirements
  • Build a strong network across the firm and with external vendors to facilitate strong collaboration and promote best practices across business operations groups including Technology, Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Legal, Tax, Compliance, Fund Administrators and External Counsel

  • Outstanding presentation, communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong Microsoft suite skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint, Visio is a plus

Education:

  • College graduate with outstanding academic record is advantageous

Experience Required: 

  • 10-14 years+ of professional experience in a fast-paced, self-driven role, preferably within investment/wealth management, financial services and/or alternative investment industry
  • Deep and broad understanding of investor lifecycle, including onboarding, maintenance and winddown
  • Experience working with a CRM and maintaining data in a CRM, Salesforce is a plus
  • Experience in data room set up and ongoing governance, Intralinks is a plus
  • Experience working with alternative asset classes is a plus
  • Spoken or written multilingual proficiency is a plus
