The Office:

The USC Office of Culture, Ethics and Compliance (OCEC) coordinates USC’s Culture Journey and is responsible for the overarching ethics and compliance strategy and program for the University. The compliance program is intended to facilitate the institution’s commitment to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, detect and correct compliance violations promptly, and eliminate misconduct and other unethical behavior through the diligent and analytical work of its team members. OCEC is also responsible for the Integrity and Accountability Code and engaging with stakeholders from across the University regarding compliance and ethics issues

The Position:

The USC Office of Culture, Ethics and Compliance is seeking a Senior Business Data Analyst to join its Compliance Strategy team. Reporting to the Senior Administrative Director, Compliance Strategy, this is a unique opportunity to be part of a growing office that is developing its data analytics program to enhance its overarching compliance program with a focus on using data to identify areas for investigation, review or other response.

The Senior Business Data Analyst will develop and perform data analytics to monitor and ensure compliance across a range of compliance programs overseen by the Office of Culture, Ethics, and Compliance. This role will report the results of data analytics efforts to stakeholders, as well as develop dashboard metrics to share the results of this data analysis with management to enable transparency and monitoring in key compliance areas. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works with management to obtain and identify analytical requirements.
  • Identifies data sources and manages collection process; cleans data for input into business intelligence (BI) tools
  • Performs data analyses and assists in interpretation of results using a variety of techniques to support compliance with USC policy and/or federal and state regulations
  • Prepares and maintains comprehensive reports and dashboards based on data analytics work.
  • Provides recommendations and conclusions gained from analyzing data using statistical methods and tools.
  • Researches best practices, develops benchmarks, and provides dashboard metrics to management leadership.
  • Identifies and documents trends in data analytics across USC schools and departments.
  • Maintains awareness and knowledge of current changes within legal, regulatory, and USC technology environments which may impact data analytics and reporting.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge of business intelligence tools
  • Other duties as assigned.

The annual base salary range for this position is $102,869.31 - $113,304.12. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree.

Minimum Experience: 3 years.

Minimum Field of Expertise: Direct knowledge and experience in data modeling, data warehousing and reporting. Project management experience for complex projects. Demonstrated organizational, critical thinking, interpersonal, planning, problem solving, and business analytical skills. Able to work at a high functional and technical level.
