Job Description

Team Summary

Visa’s Innovation & Design team is a global client-facing organization that sets Visa’s public innovation agenda, promotes hands-on incubation and rapid prototyping with clients and partners, and elevates the design and user experiences of Visa products and services. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Director to lead our Innovation & Design efforts in China. This role will report to the Head of Products, Greater China.

What a Sr. Director, Head of Innovation & Design, China does at Visa

As China Head of Innovation & Design, you will drive Visa innovation agenda in China and lead Visa Innovation Studio in Beijing, a state-of-the-art facility where Visa collaborates with Chinese and International clients and partners to discover growth opportunities and design new commerce and payments solutions using human-centered design methodology. You will deliver a spectrum of client engagements including Innovation Studio experiential tours, in-field immersions and co-creation sprints. You will also collaborate with technical leaders and development teams to design and build best-in-class user experiences for Visa new products in the China market.

  • Connects the dots between product, design, technology, and strategy to solve complex problems
  • Possesses strong business acumen and management skills
  • Has proven ability to attract, manage and mentor talent

Responsibilities

  • Scope, structure, design and run client engagements including Innovation Studio experiential tours, in-field immersions and co-creation sprints leveraging a small team of in-house experts and external agencies
  • Define and drive Visa China innovation agenda and Studio’s service offerings with inputs from Visa internal stakeholders
  • Build and prioritize a pipeline of external client and internal Visa product development engagements in alignment with Visa and client priorities
  • Champion and apply design-thinking principles, guiding in-house design team and external agencies to create digital experiences that are delightful, engaging and impactful
  • Operate as the primary point for contact for the Innovation Studio accountable to Country management & regional functional leadership
  • Manage budgets, agencies and vendors across multiple projects & programs minding the quality, time & budget
  • Cultivate a collaborative, fast, trusting working culture within and beyond the Innovation & Design team
  • Hire, manage and guide Innovation and Design team members
  • Evangelize Visa’s innovation vision and priorities within the organization and at selective community and industry events

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office three days a week, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experiences with 7+ years of client-facing experience in consulting, digital agency, start-ups, technology or financial services
  • Strong executive presence with expertise in leading workshops and exploratory discussions with c-level clients
  • Solid track record in designing and commercializing digital products and services in financial services, payments or commerce sectors, preferably with hands-on experience in human centered design
  • Expert in translating client needs into meaningful problem statements and structuring the right project approach to design and develop the desired solutions
  • Industry experience in financial services, payments or e-commerce highly desirable
  • Proven ability to engage and drive commercial outcomes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English
  • Post graduate and or MBA degree highly desirable
