The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from: $92,000.00 to $120,470.000

Responsibilities:

The Corporate Development team at AVANGRID is motivated, dynamic, and growing. The team is entrusted with leading all the internal and external processes required for the execution and approval of non-organic growth business transformations in the U.S., including global initiatives.

The Senior Analyst will drive forward specific projects across both AVANGRID’s existing business lines (AVANGRID Networks and AVANGRID Renewables), as well as in emerging technologies and transformational partnership opportunities. They will contribute to diversity with their background, professional experience and by challenging the current team with challenging views:

  • Strategy formation: research trends in electric and gas utilities, renewable energy development, and innovative technologies. Work in coordination with AVANGRID’s business teams in the U.S. and globally to develop theses on opportunities for Avangrid and Iberdrola.
  • Origination: For acquisitions, identify specific acquisition candidates and/or partnership opportunities through direct relationships and/or advisor-led sale processes. For divestitures, coordinate closely with business teams to identify divestiture candidates and prepare launch materials.
  • Valuation and Due Diligence: lead internal due diligence and financial analysis (e.g., discounted cash flow, precedent transactions, comparable companies, proforma earnings accretion / dilution and proforma credit analysis) to evaluate selected opportunities.
  • Structuring and Negotiation: coordinate closely with Legal team to support deal structuring considerations and all documentation required for signing and closing a transaction.
  • Internal approvals: prepare investment or divestment memos and/or dossiers in support of transactions for executive decision across the organization.
  • Integration: lead integration process of completed transactions.

Regular interaction and close coordination with teams at Avangrid and Iberdrola. This includes Avangrid Renewables and Avangrid Networks, as well as corporate functions like Finance and Treasury, Accounting and Tax, Legal, and Regulatory. Support key relationships and dialogue with investment banks and other financial advisors to track utility, renewable energy, and cleantech M&A themes, as well as to identify target acquisition opportunities.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, with master’s degree in an energy related field or MBA preferred.
  • At least six (6) years of relevant work experience in power, utilities and renewable energy at a top-tier utility, investment bank, management consulting firm, or private equity / venture capital fund.
  • Prior experience with U.S. or global M&A transactions, including: opportunity identification and origination, valuation, due diligence, and execution.
  • Strong understanding of renewable energy project development and financial modeling; strong understanding of U.S. electric and gas utility regulation and financial modeling
  • Results-oriented, with strong critical and creative thinking, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communicating and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex, technical topics to internal and external audiences of various sizes and knowledge levels
  • Ability to write proposals, reports and memos in a clear and concise manner to advance program initiatives from a business and regulatory perspective
  • Ability to read and interpret regulatory orders and tariffs, federal / local regulations and reports
  • Strong cross functional team skills, desire to serve co-workers and provide customers with excellent service
  • Proven ability to work independently and at all levels of the organization.
