Overall Position Purpose

Under the supervision of the Market Leader in EY Malaysia, you will work closely with the MMO Team and your role involves managing the Markets function throughout Malaysia. This includes analysing business performance, considering the implications, developing, implementing, and expanding initiatives across various sectors, business units, account segments, and any newly established service lines. The ultimate aim is to accomplish strategic objectives and generate lasting value for the business. Serving as the "integrator," you will connect different work streams and serve as a bridge between Malaysia's Markets Leadership and the wider organization.

Your Key Responsibilities

Operational Strategy

  1. Collaborate with the Market Leadership team to contribute to the development and execution of vision and operational strategy.
  2. Translate strategic objectives into actionable plans to enhance performance and drive growth.
  3. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of operational strategies.
  4. Collaborate with Market Segment Leaders and Lead Client Service Partners to drive growth in key accounts.
  5. Design, implement, and execute the Client Experience (CX) tracking to optimise client experiences and identify revenue opportunities.
  6. Leverage existing technologies and data platforms in EY to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness to ensure data quality is maintained.
  7. Oversee day-to-day market operations to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  8. Identify areas for improvement based on a thorough understanding of business performance and collaborate with relevant teams for implementation.
  9. Develop and implement communication strategies for each market function.

Market Operations Tasks

  1. Together with Malaysia’s Business Development and Market Finance teams, provide insights to the Market Leadership team on the market performance, sales and pipelines to help identify opportunities and gaps in the market and forecast strength of demand, for commercial decisions.
  2. Track the opportunities within EY database management by identifying any lapsed or past due opportunities that should have been closed in the system to maintain data quality.
  3. Supporting the Market Operations newsletter initiative by participating in every stage, from defining the audience, planning, and creating content, designing, ensuring quality control, managing circulation, and fostering collaboration.
  4. Keep track and perform analysis on CX status of completion.
  5. Continuous update Malaysia Market Operations work instructions and policy manual.
  6. Continuous monitoring Malaysia’s market capitalization and audit fee on periodic basis by staying informed about Malaysia market dynamics and performance.
  7. Assist the client-serving professionals in quotations and proposals development activities, if required.

Integrated Planning

  1. Contribute to the annual integrated planning process, coordinating with other core business services.
  2. Providing support to ensure that plans align with the country's overall direction and strategic objectives.

Communication and Collaboration

  1. Organise and facilitate Management and Partner forums, providing concise updates on business performance.
  2. Collaborate with various teams to enhance operational efficiencies, maintain data quality, and implement effective communication strategies.
  3. Strengthen Malaysia’s Markets network and community with different stakeholder groups.
  4. Cultivate an inclusive culture, ensuring teams thrive and meet Markets objectives.
  5. Work closely with Service Lines, other Core Business Services, BD Leadership in cross-functional initiatives.
  6. Collaboration and communication are extended to EY ASEAN, Asia Pacific Knowledge Centre team and Global Delivery Services.

Reporting

  1. Work closely with the Associate Director to provide Leadership with timely advice on business performance using reports from Finance and Markets teams
  2. ASEAN Reporting
  3. Malaysia Market Segment – Reporting to EY ASEAN Market Leader who oversees the Markets function in Southeast Asia. Type of reporting includes but is not limited to Annual Revenue and Accounts Planning, Global Investment Planning exercise, Global Database Management, ASEAN Market Board and Management of Global Client Service Partner/ Global Account Leader Interactions.
  4. Malaysia Assurance – Reporting to EY ASEAN Assurance Leader who oversees the Assurance function and its business development activities across Southeast Asia. The type of reporting includes but is not limited to CX KPI (Key Performance Indicators) Monitoring and Progress Tracking of Assurance Opportunities.
  5. Malaysia Reporting
  6. Malaysia Geo Performance, Assurance and Expanded Assurance Market Business Development Activities – Reporting to Country Managing Partner of EY Malaysia alongside the Market/Expanded Assurance Leader, Assurance Leader and Market Leadership team. Type of reporting includes but not limited to EY Malaysia Geo Performance Analysis, tracking and monitoring of opportunities, CX performance activities, and oversight the newly established Expanded Assurance related activities.

This reporting structure is designed to ensure effective communication and alignment with both the broader ASEAN region and the specific market dynamics in Malaysia. The reporting types encompass a comprehensive range of strategic and operational aspects, providing valuable insights for decision-making and performance evaluation at various levels within the organization.

Skills and attributes for success:

  1. A graduate qualification
  2. Preferably with 3 years of experience in a professional services industry.
  3. Financial literacy and the ability to interpret results and provide advice on performance. In addition, the ability to forecast and project areas that the leaders need to focus on.
  4. Strong relationship building skills and the ability to work with senior stakeholders.
  5. Manage multiple agendas; meet demanding time frames and tight deadlines. Ability to manage projects from start to finish.
  6. Strong communication skills and the ability to deal with competing interests to find a suitable outcome. In addition, the ability to manage change in a complex environment.
  7. Strong understanding of local firm’s constructs, systems, and processes.
  8. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  9. Proficient in data analysis and utilization of data platforms.
  10. Project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
