General Summary:

The Scrum Master will serve as the primary point of contact for the Product Team, Project/Program Managers, Scrum Masters, and Leadership Teams for day-to-day operations for the execution of the sprints and integration with other project/product teams. Seeks and promotes continuous improvement at all levels of the organization. Helps to achieve productivity and quality goals with efficiency and effectiveness by facilitating and coaching scrum teams´ efforts and activities. Facilitates scrum team meetings, including but not limited to sprint planning, retrospectives, demos, and sprint reviews.

This role will be working with multiple business and technology teams to deliver customer value through the implementation of Agile principles, processes, and methods. The Scrum Master/Agile Coach will support the Project teams and Scrum Masters in reinforcing Agile principles in their pursuit of the Agile Transformation. Coach others on delivering functional software iteratively and scrum teams on becoming Agile. The Scrum Master should personify Scrum and Agile, and they will guide and coach the Scrum Teams and the organization on how to best use Agile/Scrum practices to meet the goals of the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Scrum Master for 2 to 3 scrum teams at any given time. Facilitates and supports all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective. Collaborates with project managers and other stakeholders to support corporate initiatives through project/product planning, product development, release planning and production deployments.

2. Guides and coaches the Scrum Teams on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to internal and external customers.

3. Gets team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.

4. Serve as a thought leader, idea generator to the broader organization in adopting Agile; Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop strategy. Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization. Promotes and develops Agile knowledge and best practices sharing across the organization to maximize the scrum team´s performance and effectiveness.

5. Provide Quality Assurance review on individual scrum team processes and activities (i.e., sprint planning, stand-ups, metrics, sprint deliverables, and entry and exit criteria).

6. All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills.
  • Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e., Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development. life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices.
  • Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques.
  • Experience in leading the transition of an organization from Waterfall to Agile is required.
  • Demonstrable proficiency in Agile methods, including Scrum and Kanban Experience.
  • Experience operating in a variety of Software Development Life Cycles (Waterfall, Iterative and Agile).
  • Experienced facilitator able to apply various techniques to ensure effective meetings, both co-located and distributed.
  • Expertise in supporting project planning for scope, schedule, and timeline.
  • Experience managing System releases and deployments.
  • Strong leadership skills and a history of leading through influence.
  • Experience as a leader managing a complex systems delivery program.
  • Must be a team player and be able to adjust to a dynamic working environment.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and can demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of systems delivery experience with Software Development Lifecycle on multiple programs.
  • 4+ years of experience as an Agile Scrum Master is required.
  • 2+ years of experience as an Agile Coach is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or equivalent. 
  • Scrum Master or equivalent Agile Certification is required.

Physical Requirements and Working Condition:

Employees in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing and walking, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is performed in an office environment.
