We’re looking for a Graduate level Data Science Intern to partner with Snowflake's Corporate data science function. In this role, you will apply machine learning to a variety of domain specific use-cases across Snowflake’s Legal, Sales, Sales Engineering, Alliances, IT, Security, Professional Services & Training. This is a generalist role and will provide an opportunity to pick from a wide breadth of problems, applying a good mix of models & methods.

WHAT WE EXPECT:

  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college/university program during the time of the internship
  • Completed an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research etc.)
  • Fluency with Python (including popular ML packages) and SQL
  • Knowledge of Probability & Statistics, Machine Learning (ML) & Data Science
  • Knowledge of data structures & algorithms
  • Research interests in statistical learning, causal inference, optimization theory, machine learning or a related area 
  • Strong critical thinking & analytical skills. Eagerness to learn. 
  • Good communication skills

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

  • How to analyze real-world large-scale noisy data sets 
  • How to formulate an ML problem and develop an algorithm solution for it
  • How to work with typical tools in a data tech stack
  • How to develop & manage ML pipelines
  • How to think about model lifecycle management
  • How to think about scale when applying different ML methods 

WHAT YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH:

  • Collaboration with a team of high-performing data scientists & analysts
  • Research in generalizing data science and machine learning solutions 
  • Identifying business opportunities within Snowflake & develop algorithms for them
  • Driving technical advances in forecasting, anomaly detection, user behavior modeling, churn analysis, recommendation engines etc.
  • Thinking creatively & proactively to further Snowflake’s roadmap for data science
  • “Customer Zero” initiatives to drive Snowflake on Snowflake projects
