Cisco Networking

Who You'll Work With

Cisco's Networking organization is one that builds on the wonderful history of Cisco inventing and leading the global networking industry. The opportunity in front of all of us is unbelievable. Networks around the globe have been growing for over 40 years, and we are still at the beginning! It’s hard to imagine that three billion of the world’s eight billion people are still unconnected or underserved. Soon enough, we will move from billions of connected things and people to trillions of connected things and people. With the rise of the public cloud, videoconferencing and AI, connectivity is no longer simply physical access but includes virtual connectivity. And all this connectivity is central to every experience and every economy around the world. Cisco has been synonymous with connectivity for the last 40 years, and we are excited about creating the next era of connectivity with you.

One of the things that stands out to me is the amount of amazing innovation and passion in every team. We build great products with employees who have a deep passion for winning and want to help our customers solve their greatest connectivity challenges.

Cisco has always had great innovation, but in the past this innovation and our potential have often been hindered by organizational and product silos. By bringing our teams closer, centralizing, and synchronizing our operations, we will accelerate innovation to enable our customers to simplify everything! Global Business Operations is a business unit within Cisco’s Networking organization that has been tasked to centralizing our Operations practices as a service across Networking while continuing to support Cisco Networking’s businesses. Our mission is to transform Cisco’s operational efficiencies by using real time data and insights and synchronized business processes to drive business decisions and accelerate the delivery of our strategic agendas. This will enable our vision, which is to increase both the human and cost efficiencies within Cisco, that will enable faster execution of our employees as well as free up capital that will allow us to afford resources earlier than would have been expected. The result is increased Operational Leverage generated by increased operating income, profit, and revenues for Cisco. You would be joining the Cisco Networking team, and it’s Internal Business Operations organization to fulfill this mission and vision by helping us continue to develop enhancements to the Command Center systems that run Internal Operations.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Developer with leadership potential, you'll play a dual role in both advancing our software and helping to guide our team. Your work will directly impact Command Center, Cisco's home grown web application that streamlines operations for 35,000 and growing stakeholders today.

In your hands-on role, you'll be instrumental in crafting new systems and enhancing existing ones within Command Center. This includes feature rollouts, design, debugging, testing, and system stabilization. Your contributions will be vital to broadening the utilization and effectiveness of our systems across Cisco.

You'll also take on a leadership position within our newly formed team, helping to shape a centralized fulfillment model with our Operations Command Center system. This role will allow you to heavily influence the direction of the development.

The Background:

Cisco's Networking Centralized Operations team is transforming the industry through digital automation and synchronization, enabling our workforce to deliver peak performance. As an innovator, you'll enhance the Command Center, our suite of business operations applications that streamline the management of finances and personnel. Our commitment to reinvestment and strategic growth is evidenced by our expanding user base, with adoption rates surging as we scale the Command Center.

As part of the Software Development leadership, you'll champion the Command Center, fostering a culture of agile development with daily stand-ups, sprints, and Scrum practices. You'll lead new module development, ongoing enhancements, and collaborate with other system owners to ensure our solutions are reliable, fast, and accurate. Our environment thrives on problem-solving, cross-functional support, and fostering software leadership—qualities that earned us recognition for innovation.

Joining us means being at the forefront of a visionary Business Operations team that integrates Software Development, Tactical Operations, and Strategic Operations in one organization. Together, we're redefining Operations as a Service with a clear mission and abundant opportunities for impact.
