SHIFT : Monday- Friday, 1:30pm-10pm with rotating Saturdays
Salary Range: 19.42 - 32.40 USD Hourly
Scope:
Perform a variety of donor notification and counseling functions. Ensures donors are appropriately deferred or reinstated according to applicable procedures and approved FDA protocols. Encourages donor participation in research and follow-up studies. Represents the Red Cross in interactions with blood donors and the public regarding transmissible diseases. Ensure compliance with ARCBS directives, AABB standards, state and federal regulations and other local policies and procedures. Daily contact with the Scientific Support Office (SSO) for research study coordination and with the Blood Regions regarding scheduling, collecting and shipping samples to the SSO.
Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in health science, biology, nursing, medical technology, infectious disease counseling or equivalent combination of education and related experience is required.
Demonstrated competence in infections disease counseling or related function. Minimum three years work experience in a hospital, laboratory, infectious disease or sexually transmitted disease clinic setting is required with at least two years of counseling in those specific areas.
Public health or blood banking experience in a highly regulated setting is preferred, with particular emphasis on knowledge of STD’s, and infectious disease testing.
The ability to interact effectively with others is required.
Intermediate to advanced level computer skills with Microsoft Office applications in a Windows environment is required.

Essential Functions/Physical Requirements:
Candidates must have the ability to adapt to change, work in fast paced, dynamic, and complex environment. The duties are representative of the essential functions of the position. Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. May have to sit for long periods of time.
Exposure levels are based on the essential functions as stated in this position description; however, in some instances, variances may occur due to the applicable nature of this position within a particular work site. Therefore the work site may determine the exposure level to be greater than or less than the below stated level.
This position is an exposure determination 0 in view of the fact that normal work involves no exposure to blood or blood components and/or human body fluids or tissue samples as a result of splashes, spills, and/or needlesticks or performance of or assistance in first aid.
