Associate, Facilities Operations - Utilities/Sustainability

GWS is seeking a strong professional with both technical and interpersonal communications skills to provide oversight of our daily operations for Utilities and Sustainability efforts. This role is within the GWS Facilities Operations team that manages the overall core facilities operations and infrastructure for our GWS office locations. 

The Utilities/Sustainability Associate Candidate: 

• Demonstrates professionalism, integrity and confidentiality, championing Capital One’s vision and values

• Has strong problem-solving skills and is results-focused
• Is customer-service driven, leveraging data plus experience to make decisions/recommendations

• Provides principal oversight for vendor/third party relationships
• Has knowledge and understanding of utilities account management related to electric usage, gas. 
• Has basic understanding of ESG and climate strategies that impact the physical operational environment 

Responsibilities:

• Direct liaison for third party utilities providers to execute on key responsibilities based on the contractual obligations. Utilities include electricity, water, natural gas, steam and telecom
• Monitor and report out on utilities anomalies on a monthly basis
• Reconcile monthly accounts payable billing for all utilities 
• Utilize utility data to track and assess overall consumption usage for ESG reporting and efficiency improvement opportunities
• Review monthly consolidation billing reports from third party utilities contractor to ensure all applicable charges correspond appropriately
• Partner with project managers and FM to complete open/close of utilities accounts as needed
• Oversight of PO for third party and forecast utility spending in order to create annual budgets
• Support for sustainability projects that could include emissions, LEED projects, waste audits etc.
• Oversight for applicable energy rebate opportunities with projects 
• Oversight of Capital One EV charging station program 

Basic Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of accounts payable experience
• At least 1 year of experience with Microsoft Office or G Suite 
• At least 1 year of experience in Business Process Management, Project Management, Relationship Management, or Risk Management 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or military experience 
• Lean or Six Sigma certification 
• 2+ years of facility utility bill processing experience
• 2+ year experience in facilities sustainability programs
• 2+ years of experience in Facilities Management
• 2+ years of experience in Corporate Real Estate
