Job Description:

This role is tasked with leading our shopper and retail media programs at Kroger, both brick & mortar as well as digital. This role will be an integral part of the Kroger customer team and is critical to their delivery of the sales plan, because each of our activations will be closely integrated with customer team plans and priorities. Key tasks include managing paid search and media, digital coupons/promotions, and in-store programs.

What are we looking for?

  • Briefing, Planning, and Execution: Our investment in retail media and shopper tactics at Kroger is significant, so it’s critical that this associate exhibits a high level of operational control in managing the budget and programs, in briefing our agency on forward looking programs, in project management to ensure our programs execute with excellence, and in reporting on those programs’ results.
  • Collaborating w/ the Retailer & Media Network: The ability to develop a strategy, build collaborative plans, and work in tandem with our buyers, our contacts at 8451, and our counterparts at KPM is essential.
  • Data-backed Decisions: In order to get the absolute best return for our budget, it takes relentless curiosity, a willingness to test and learn, and an ability to collaborate with technical experts. This associate will need to be comfortable reading and reacting to data, as well as making recommendations on how to optimize campaigns based on latest information. They’ll also work frequently with experts in data structuring, acquisition, analytics, and visualization to help us improve our decisions.
  • Navigating Ambiguity: The retail media space is a fast-changing, dynamic part of digital commerce. In order to navigate the rapidly evolving space, we often find ourselves solving problems we’ve never solved before, using data that isn’t perfect. It takes a high tolerance for ambiguity as well as natural curiosity to be successful.
  • Negotiation Skills: To succeed in this space, ability to negotiate with a highly sophisticated retailer like Kroger, as well as their retailer media network will be essential in the pursuit of creating mutual value.
  • Collaboration With Cross-Functional Partners: This role will require meaningful time spent working with internal partners in finance, marketing, sales planning, data science, advanced analytics, as well as local team members in category and supply. An ability to build relationships and foster collaboration is crucial. 
  • Presentation Skills: Comfort making presentations with medium to large audiences, are essential and will often be a part of this person’s workload. Presentations to senior leadership will occur 6-8 times per year.

What will be your key responsibilities?

1. Own the day-to-day Kroger Precision Marketing relationship, including annual KPM JBP.

2. Own the execution of retail media, shopper, and in-store programs at Kroger, in partnership w/ customer team.

3. Own the day-to-day relationship with our agency of record.

4. Work amongst, and occasionally lead projects across, a team of shopper marketing managers that do similar work across all our priority customers.
