Collins Aerospace is looking for a Pyrotechnician I to join our team in Fairfield, CA. You will perform a variety of explosive handling and operational tasks. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate explosive inventory control records and adapt to changing work requirements as necessary as directed by delegated supervision.

Schedule:

  • This position is for 1st shift.
  • Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Overtime is available and/or mandatory on a business need basis.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Handles bulk amount of energetic material (explosives) in accordance with Safety regulations by transporting it to and from magazines, buildings, and different departments.
  • Controlling inventory of all energetic material.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities between other departments and work within assigned department.
  • Respirators and safety goggles will be required during some process steps.
  • Demonstrates proper use of simple hand and machine tools while maintain materials, equipment, and work area in clean and orderly condition
  • Read and operate per written instructions, work order, and drawings with guidance from manufacturing engineering.
  • Collaborate with chemistry, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, and production coordinators.
  • Ensures creation of parts meet customer deadlines and expectations.
  • Complies with applicable elements of quality systems ensuring quality product standards are met with no defects.
  • Participates in audits/cost reduction plans and continuous improvement plans/events as required.
  • Acquires applicable skill/knowledge/certifications as required.
  • Communicate potential mechanical and safety problems effectively and immediately.
  • Complete documentation of work (i.e. marriage log, data sheet, etc.) without oversight.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a High School Diploma or GED. In the absence of a High School diploma or GED, 2 years of relevant experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic to intermediate computer skills.
  • 1+ year of SAP experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in safety practices.
  • Solid interpersonal skills - ability to communicate at all levels within an organization.
  • Capable of interpreting and understanding part drawings and illustrated planning.

  • The salary range for this role is $19.29 to $26.10; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills
