Crop Genetics is seeking an experienced and motivated Plant Geneticist to join us. The team supports molecular breeding with genotyping, genotype data analyses and molecular genetics. The Plant Geneticist will develop, manage, and participate in projects that apply genomics and molecular breeding tools to crop improvement. The selected candidate will develop molecular markers as well as appropriate high-throughput genotyping and sequencing applications and data analyses.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • You will apply methods for marker-trait associations to discover relevant native traits for our global hybrid oilseeds breeding program.
  • You design robust molecular markers and marker panels to support marker-assisted selection.
  • You contribute to the development and improvement of sequence-based genotyping technology and workflows.
  • You are following the latest developments in the field of high-throughput genotyping.
  • You provide genotyping and data analysis to support for molecular breeding projects.
  • You design, implement, and oversee experimental approaches, both internally and with external collaborations.
  • You interact with breeders and trait research teams in shared efforts to develop higher yielding varieties and hybrids for farmers.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • You hold a MSc in plant genomics, molecular genetics, biotechnology, plant breeding or a similar degree.
  • Proven expertise in oil seed rape (or other hybrid crops) is a plus.
  • You have lab experience with molecular markers or next generation sequencing.
  • You know bioinformatics data sources, software packages for sequence analysis and marker development.
  • You apply your analytical skills in handling and analyzing large data sets efficiently.
  • You have experience in using packages in R or Python for data analysis.
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • You can work autonomously with limited supervision from senior team members.
  • You have experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
