Ethiopia Supply Chain, Procurement, and Fundraising Lead

One Acre Fund

About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund supplies 1.6 million smallholder farmers with the agricultural services they need to make their farms more productive. Our 10,000+ team is drawn from diverse backgrounds and professions. With operations across ten African countries, we make farmers more prosperous by providing quality farm supplies on credit, delivered within walking distance of farmers' homes, and agricultural training to improve harvests. On average, the farmers we serve earn 40 percent more profits on the land they enroll with One Acre Fund.

In Ethiopia, we engage farmers in agroforestry and community-based seed multiplication to increase farmers' incomes and improve farming systems. By engaging with local actors at every step but bringing ideas from outside, we are making rural farming more profitable and sustainable. Our Ethiopian partner farmers have planted over 60 million trees, produced over 2500 MT of improved teff seed, and improved hundreds of thousands of neighbors' futures. About the Role

The Supply Chain, Procurement, and Fundraising Lead will be a part of the leadership team in one of One Acre Fund's fastest-growing country programs. The Ethiopia program is aiming at serving over 230,000 farmers in 2025, grow 30 million trees, and improve a successful seed multiplication program.

You will report directly to the Ethiopia Country Director or Deputy Country Director and will manage procurement, logistics, IT, field technology and data operations through a team of ~10 permanent staff and dozens of seasonal staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Ethiopia's Supply Chain and Procurement Division.
  • You'll directly manage our Logistic and Data Management Specialist, our two Procurement Specialists, and our IT coordinator (with a permanent team of around 10 people).
  • You and your team will procure and deliver more than 100 MT of tree or seed inputs to our kebeles of operations, maintain a database of 200,000+ farmers, and support our Innovation department with new products or services.
  • You'll manage project planning, SOPs, performance management tools, KPIs, and goal setting within the Logistics & Data Management, IT, and Procurement departments.
  • You will be responsible for the division’s budget and will represent your division in cross-department coordination meetings and Ethiopia's Senior Management Team.
  • Improve operations to help grow our programs. In the next five years, we hope to work with more than 500,000 farmers across multiple regions in Ethiopia. You will oversee the expansion of our procurement, logistics, and data operations systems to support this growth and in particular:
  • Improve processes to make sure we provide the best quality inputs to our clients in the most efficient manner.
  • Build internal controls and data tracking processes to help us manage our expanding operations while mitigating fraud and security risks.
  • Grow our existing team through coaching and training.
  • Find tech solutions to help us reach scale. As the technology environment in Ethiopia evolves, we are open to new solutions that help us reach more farmers, train our staff better, and solve broad agroforestry and agricultural system challenges. Together with our Global IT and Supply Chain departments, you'll lead the exploration, recommendation, and implementation of new solutions.
  • Support the Ethiopia team on fundraising activities.
