The Lead Project Engineer is accountable for providing the winning MSOL proposals on large project pursuits and is the trusted sales partner of the MSOL Project Pursuit leader & EPC Account manager! 

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Sales Support:

  • Be responsible for the creation of Project Proposals for Measurement Solutions and review proposals prior to submission;
  • Work in partnership with the MSOL project pursuit leader / EPC account manager to agree the proposal strategy, identifying the critical aspects to ensure we submit a winning bid;
  • Use our tiered product offering to enable price gains, minimize discount and improve profitability 
  • Suggest technical and product solutions, work with product specialists & project engineers to develop the best value proposition for the customer.
  • Work in close collaboration with supply chain and ETO team to ensure buy-out items meet specifications and are best priced. Ensure multiple suppliers quotes are received and present cost versus risk alternatives in a timely manner;
  • Work with the Project Engineering and Project Documentation teams to ensure technical product and documentation compliance at minimum cost;
  • Conduct appropriate risk and opportunity assessments in support of the project pursuit leader / EPC account manager and conduct regular lessons learned for lost projects;
  • Develop a profit recovery plan for every project in conjunction with the Pursuit leader and the Project Manager;
  • Provide an informative proposal summary showing the critical technical elements impacting cost/GP to enable clear DOA discussions and accurate commercial negotiations;
  • Act as customer concern point for sales to the Project Engineering team to set priorities to ensure strategic bids are submitted on time. Align priority setting with the project pursuit leader / Project Execution Support 
  • Accountable for project execution from a technical perspective;
  • Support the Project Manager in the execution of projects;
  • Ensure Profit recovery strategy is handed-over & understood by Project manager for implementation;
  • Take full technical responsibility for the solution provided;
  • Be responsible for the team of project engineers to provide technical support to the Administration team to ensure customer purchase orders are entered in a timely manner;
  • Increase scope and profitability on assigned projects;
  • Collaborate with all key collaborators;
  • Attend Customer meetings as needed;
  • Own the project engineers to ensure documentation is submitted/approved to schedule;
  • Attend Customer inspections as required to ensure detailed delivery.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Relevant Engineering degree;
  • Minimum of 5 years proven experience; 
  • Shown ability in the process automation industry (Automation, DCS, and field implementation);
  • Detailed instrumentation technical knowledge;
  • Extensive experience with direct client contact and managing expectations;
  • Capable and willing to travel as required;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; 

Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of financial models, budgeting, financial impacts of technology actions;
  • Understanding business needs and translating them into technical, or technology requirements;
  • Ability to read P&IDs, customer specifications and build instrument datasheets;
  • Ability to manage a team of project engineers;
  • Detailed knowledge of the complete instrumentation portfolio;

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart: 

  • Knowledge of Dutch language is a plus.
