Responsibilities:

The Debt Capital Markets Advisory Group originates, structures, and executes financings across the private and public debt markets for sponsor-backed, privately-owned, and public businesses across numerous industries. We have acted as a placement agent, an underwriter, and a strategic advisor on a wide array of financings. The Debt Capital Markets Advisory Group works in partnership with PJT Partners’ Strategic Advisory, Park Hill, Restructuring and Camberview teams. As a Debt Capital Markets Associate you will sit within the Strategic Advisory Group, which is one of the most experienced investment banking teams in the industry, and has been involved in some of the largest, most complex transactions. Our global team focuses on a diverse set of industries, including technology, media, and telecommunications; energy, power, and utilities; industrials; healthcare; consumer; and real estate. Debt Capital Markets Associates participate in the origination, structuring, and execution of all debt-related deal activity.

  • Associates within the Capital Markets Advisory Group work directly with companies across all industries in evaluating, structuring, and recommending financial alternatives across the private and public debt markets (investment grade and non-investment grade ratings spectrum)
  • Associates typically work on a wide variety of financing transactions including general capital raises, refinancings, mergers, acquisitions, asset sales, restructurings, and divestitures
  • The small size of this group offers professionals the unique opportunity to gain client exposure and work closely with senior members on the team, many of whom were previously group heads at leading investment banking firms
  • Day-to-day responsibilities include: building financial models; analyzing capital structures, credit documents and indentures; facilitating due diligence and discussions with companies, legal counsel, and advisors; drafting of client presentations; preparing market updates; deal structuring and term sheet negotiations; constructing and managing internal deal and investor-related databases, including ongoing investor relationship development and management; ratings analyses; liability management exercises (e.g., tender offers, exchange offerings, and consent solicitations); and coordinating and managing complex and often time-sensitive capital raise processes
  • Associates receive broad-based exposure to the full spectrum of complex issues that arise in capital markets transactions, including capital raising through both the public and private markets, mergers and acquisitions, asset sales, credit negotiations, exchange offers, and Chapter 11 reorganizations
