Our Ventures team, which incorporates the design-led innovation consultancy Doblin and Monitor Deloitte’s lean startup consulting team, is looking for talented venture strategists who are keen to do just that for some of the largest companies in the world. 

We help organisations transform the way they innovate & grow by focusing innovation efforts in the right place; designing, building & launching new value propositions; and becoming faster & more effective innovators. 

Our growing London team offers the opportunity to embed lean start-up innovation into client organisations – teaching them to adopt the tools and techniques from the start-up and VC world in order to test, validate and build new ideas as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. 

As a Venture Strategist you will: 

  • Use the tools and techniques of the lean startup methodology to problem solve 
  • Take a hypotheses-led approach to innovation and venturing 
  • Balance desirability, viability and feasibility when appraising a concept 
  • Advocate gathering real-world feedback and using evidence-based decision making 
  • Understand the importance of innovation operating model design with respect to effectively managing and governing the innovation process 
  • Coach our clients to ensure they are comfortable in the lean startup methodology 
  • Love working in multidisciplinary teams 
  • Blend a grounding in the fundamentals of strategy with a highly practical way of working

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Inspiring potential clients about the benefits of adopting lean start-up innovation
  • Identifying business development opportunities, develop proposals and build distinctive, enduring, client relationships 
  • Leading projects to help our clients test, validate and build new ventures and business models. This involves: 
  • Development of MVPs to test market response and gather real- world evidence 
  • Commercial evaluation of ideas, including market and competitor analysis 
  • Engaging with multidisciplinary teams to develop and test technical POCs 
  • Leading projects to set up client organisations to sustainably innovate. This involves: 
  • Running workshops with client stakeholders to understand their current innovation processes and blockers
  • Designing and testing new end-to-end lean start-up processes in collaboration with the client 
  • Training people from across the organisation to adopt the lean start-up methodology
  • Contributing to the ongoing evolution of our methodology and approach to innovation and venturing 
  • Mentoring and developing other team members to support the growth of the team

All applicants must hold UK security clearance to Developed Vetting (DV) level

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate these characteristics:

  • Experience in a Strategy Consulting or Innovation firm, including demonstrable experience leading client engagements in Defence & Security and/or the wider Public Sector
  • A sense of inquisitiveness and a desire to challenge corporate norms 
  • An outstanding ability to coach and advise clients in new ways of working 
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of lean start-up innovation and related methodologies 
  • An ability to operate effectively with limited direction 
  • Adept at using the Microsoft Office suite 
  • The ability to work in dynamic, often ambiguous conditions, both individually and in a team 
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills 
  • Experience working at or with start-ups or corporate ventures

Personal independence

Regulation and controls are standard practice in our industry and Deloitte is no exception. These controls provide important legal protection for both you and the firm. We are subject to a number of audit regulations, one of which requires that certain colleagues abide by specific personal independence constraints (e.g., in relation to any financial interests and employment relationships). This can mean that you and your "Immediate Family Members" are not permitted to hold certain financial interests (shares, funds, bonds etc.) with audit clients of the firm, and also prohibitions on certain employment relationships (e.g., you are not permitted to hold a secondary employment role with SEC audit clients of the firm whilst being employed by the firm). Our hybrid working policy

You’ll be based in London with hybrid working. Our hybrid model enables our people to collaborate, connect and innovate in both a virtual and physical capacity. As well as remote working, you’ll attend your local office, virtual collaboration spaces and client sites, depending on the requirements of the role.
