Job Description

Primary Responsibilities

Managing of Agricultural Product Schemes in accordance with the different Standard and accreditation requirements where applicable, as well as the SGS Global System and Product procedures. Lead auditor for the applicable standards and maintaining local accreditation for the relevant schemes.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Managing and implementing of the different Agricultural Scheme requirements -namely but not limited to Global G.A.P, Tesco Nurture, LEAF Marque, SIZA Environmental, Add-ons.
  • Offering guidance with audit planning and preparation of audit programs including international affiliates.
  • Scheduling preparation activities and liaison with clients
  • Assisting with resources - from sourcing to onboarding; including signing off auditors.
  • Auditor training and development.
  • Identifying and training persons to conduct technical functions – proposal approver, technical reviewer, certification decision maker.
  • Maintaining local accreditation for GlobalG.A.P. and implementing procedures to facilitate this.
  • Involvement in accreditation assessments, integrity program assessments (CIPRO), internal audits (L2), impartiality committee meetings.
  • Implementing and adhering to accreditation and Scheme requirements as relevant
  • Assist in the development, control and maintenance of system documents.
  • Conducting audits based on the requirements of the Schemes, including but not limited to Global G.A.P, Tesco Nurture, LEAF Marque, SIZA Environmental, Add-ons.
  • Preparation of audit findings and reports.
  • Technical review of audit packs
  • Certification decision on audits conducted as relevant.
  • Achieve performance targets and KPI's of the unit as applicable Achieve quality KPl's of audit pack submission to back-office Client follow-up visits as and when required.
  • Assist with business development for BA business.
  • Liaison with external stakeholders as and when required.
  • Any other technical auditing tasks that may be assigned from time to time.
  • Oversee the development of new training material and courses for the BA Division
  • Presenting identified training courses as required
  • Scheme Manager: GlobalG.A.P.:
  • Retain your qualification as a GlobalG.A.P. inspector and Auditor.
  • Remain committed to assist in any harmonization activities performed by the GlobalG.A.P. Secretariate.
  • Management and operational decision-making process.
  • Reporting on the performance of the quality system for the purposes of management review and continuous system improvement.
  • Communicate to the GlobalG.A.P. secretariat the requested signed reception of any communication and requiring written receipt.
  • Communication and administration of users within the GlobalG.A.P. system.
  • Respond to GlobalG.A.P. operational enquiries as required in the communication.
  • Distribution of all communication received from the GlobalG.A.P.. Secretariat to all SGS staff involved in the GlobalG.A.P. activities.
  • Attend the annual GlobalG.A.P. Scheme Manager meeting.
  • Pass the GlobalG.A.P. ‘In-house trainer’ exam for the relevant sub-scope and version.
  • In-house training of GlobalG.A.P.. Auditors / Inspectors.
  • Ensure that all registered GlobalG.A.P. Auditors and inspectors comply with the GlobalG.A.P. requirements
  • Ensure that all staff involved in the process receive relevant training to ensure that the GlobalG.A.P. requirements are met.
  • Adhere to ail quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system. 

Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.

Qualifications

  • Minimum tertiary qualification in Agriculture or related degree
  • Meet Auditor's qualifications for Agricultural standards.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English
  • Proficient on MS Office, especially with MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel programs

Additional Information

Required Skills and Experience

  • Three years auditing experience and working experience/industry knowledge in the Agricultural sector.
  • Knowledge and experience in project management and operations management 
  • Extensive knowledge in the application of ISOI 7065 requirements
  • Able to interact with all levels of management, suppliers, and clients.
  • Good communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills 
  • Acts quickly and decisively; able to make tough calls. 
  • Works well under pressure, challenges status quo.
  • Proficiency in English - fluency in other languages would be advantageous. 
  • Applies judgment and acts according to the SGS standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Customer focus and service orientation
  • Technical knowledge and experience in related field and in using management methods and tools.
  • Able to work independently and to coordinate several activities simultaneously.
  • Administratively organized, timeous and correct reporting
  • Good administrative and computer skills
