Job Overview

As Intuit’s Director, ESG Strategy & Reporting, you will drive and shape the evolution of Intuit’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy.

This newly-created position requires an experienced professional who is knowledgeable about a broad range of ESG topics. The ideal candidate will have experience building ESG capabilities within an organization, be a strong collaborator, with a proven track record of working across various corporate functions to influence and drive alignment among senior stakeholders across the organization. The candidate will build partnerships with other business leaders to ensure that Intuit complies with current and future reporting requirements. As a courageous leader, you will establish relationships across the organization to develop and drive a cross-functional community of leaders responsible for ESG policies, strategy, and programs and to elevate Intuit’s position as an industry ESG leader.

This high-visibility role will be responsible for our ESG reporting, including our annual Corporate Responsibility report and responses to ESG raters and rankers. You will also contribute to the ESG disclosures in other critical channels to meet regulatory requirements and investment community expectations, such as our proxy statement, 10-K and state law reporting. This position will be responsible for acquiring and consolidating precise ESG data and performance metrics from various contributors across the organization, while establishing a governance and control framework that complies with relevant reporting standards and regulations, in order to comply with external assurance expectations. The candidate we seek has an understanding of ESG reporting taxonomies and ratings methodologies, will report to the Vice President of Investor Relations, and hire and manage a small team, including third-party advisors.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, highly organized and efficient with strong project management skills, collaborative and able to work with, educate and influence stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a quantitative field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in ESG reporting, sustainability, or corporate social responsibility. Experience in a leadership role and managing a team is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ESG reporting frameworks, such as GRI, SASB, and TCFD, and experience developing ESG metrics.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and ability to influence others without formal reporting relationships.
  • Experience engaging with institutional investors and/or other external stakeholders on ESG issues, and familiarity with major institutional investors’ and other stakeholders’ expectations regarding ESG practices and disclosures is a plus
  • Familiar with and have prepared reporting to major ESG/sustainability surveys, raters, and benchmarking organizations, including S&P CSA, CDP, MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS, JUST Capital, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills, technical acumen, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including experience presenting to senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to ESG reporting and experience engaging with various stakeholders on ESG issues.
  • Experience with ESG assurance.
  • Ability to think strategically, adapt to change, and develop long-term plans to achieve business and sustainability outcomes.
  • Able to inspire trust, clarity, and consensus within a complex, fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills. Proven track record to balance multiple projects and opposing priorities. Acute attention to detail and maintaining a consistent awareness of timelines is needed for success.
  • Experience with sustainability reporting software tools a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Create a multi-year strategy for building a best-in-class ESG strategy and reporting function at the company.
  • Drive a cross-functional steering committee that focuses on ESG matters, enabling Intuit’s ongoing compliance and finding ways to drive leadership in ESG practices and disclosure. Drive executive alignment towards a clearer vision of what ESG means and should mean for the company in the future.
  • Project manage and drive Intuit’s annual Corporate Responsibility report in close collaboration with Communications, Marketing, Corporate Responsibility, People & Places DEI team, Sustainability, Investor Relations, Audit and Legal.
  • Manage the ESG data strategy and processes. You will design and implement processes and internal controls to ensure proper data collection and governance, create and provide training to numerous stakeholders, consolidate and analyze business unit data for company-wide ESG reporting.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and respond to various requests for information from investors and other stakeholders regarding our ESG performance.
  • Serve as the strategic owner of engagement with third-party ESG rating agencies, such as ISS, S&P CSA and MSCI among others. Set priorities for engaging in external ESG assessments and data requests, such as the Workforce Disclosure Initiative.
  • Stay up-to-date on regulatory changes (US SEC, California) and industry trends related to ESG reporting, communicate information to relevant stakeholders, and integrate new requirements into reporting processes, in collaboration with Legal, other Finance teams, and other functions.
  • Conduct research on industry best practices related to ESG reporting and continually benchmark against other companies’ reporting practices and integrate new findings into reporting processes.
  • Develop and improve internal policies, procedures and capabilities, including working cross-functionally with teams across Global Corporate Affairs, Legal, Sustainability, Corporate Responsibility, Accounting, Finance, Communications and People & Places.
  • Drive and improve Intuit’s climate risk assessment processes and provide strategic guidance on how to mitigate material risks.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to develop and deliver materials for ESG presentations and strategic meetings.
  • Partner with Legal to develop a framework to update, engage and educate the Board and its Committees on ESG topics.
