POSITION SUMMARY:

The PV Designer II is responsible for the preparation and revision of commercial and utility plan sets for photovoltaic (PV) system installation and site survey sketches. Plan sets include electrical schematics, structural details, and equipment specifications.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work alongside Sales and Development teams and create site plans and single line drawings.
  • Provide effective communication to internal and external stakeholders like vendors, EORs, clients and Operations team.
  • Convey results and findings by means of oral discussions, graphic-based presentations, and project documentation.
  • Adhere to discipline-specific CAD standards.
  • Review drawings for completeness and accuracy.
  • Create and update database of design records for future reference.
  • Develop the Quantity take off based on the design developed.
  • Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology, and safety.
  • Familiar with various equipment (modules, racking, inverters etc.) for proper design and installation of solar projects.
  • Understand manufacturer’s installation guidelines.
  • Create site plans and single line drawings (DC and AC).
  • Prioritize, multitask, and follow through on assigned tasks and projects with minimal supervision.
  • Act as a resource for other CAD Designers in resolving non-routine issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 1 year of solar design experience.
  • Pursue ongoing education in the field installation of utility scale solar.

PREFERRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • 1+ years of Utility Scale Solar design experience
  • Proficiency in AUTOCAD 2D and 3D and SketchUp.
  • Familiarity with Civil 3D.
  • Ability to give presentations to groups of up to 10 people.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Visio.
  • Effective communication (oral, written, presentation), motivation, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to prioritize numerous tasks.
  • Team player, solution-minded, and looks for ways to improve efficiencies and communication.
  • Familiar with various equipment (modules, racking, inverters, etc.) for proper design and installation of solar projects.
  • Ability to understand manufacturer’s installation guidelines.
  • Able to work in a fast-moving environment while maintaining a positive attitude in stressful situations.
  • High level of organizational skills and professionalism.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and plan sets.
